We are looking for a Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant in the Greater New Orleans Area to join our team! The salary range for this position is $20.14 to $25.17 per hour based on skills and experience. This position is classified as Hybrid, which means that they will work in the office 2 or more days a week.

Primary Functions:
The Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to Mortgage Loan Officers and the mortgage department to help ensure a smooth and efficient loan process. This role focuses on handling documentation, maintaining communication with members, and assisting with loan file preparation and follow-up. The Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant serves as a liaison between borrowers, loan officers, and processing staff to facilitate timely and accurate completion of mortgage applications.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provide administrative support to the Mortgage Division while assisting members in a courteous, professional, and confidential manner.
  • Manage mortgage loan files from application through closing, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Input loan application information.
  • Review loan package documents for completeness and accuracy, flagging any discrepancies to the Mortgage Loan Officer or Loan Originator.
  • Coordinate and prepare documentation required for verifications and underwriting, including loan applications, credit reports and supplemental mortgage paperwork.
  • Perform general administrative duties such as answering and screening calls, scheduling appointments, etc.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Mortgage Loan Officer and members, coordinating communications and follow-ups on outstanding items.
  • Respond to member and staff inquiries regarding mortgage transactions to support a high level of service and satisfaction.
  • Understands and complies with mortgage industry regulations, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, the Community Reinvestment Act, Truth-in-Lending laws, etc.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.



Experience:
Three years to five years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.

Possess an understanding of different loan products, such as conventional loans, FHA, VA, adjustable/fixed, commercial loans, etc.

Computer proficiency required including MS Office; some CRM, MLS, DU, and proprietary mortgage software preferred.


Education/Certifications/Licenses:
High school diploma or equivalent required. NMLS license or training is preferred.


Interpersonal Skills:
A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.
