Job Summary
Responsible for leading and managing engineering aspects of automotive projects, from initial concept through to production. Works closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring that engineering deliverables meet quality, cost, and timing objectives while adhering to all safety and regulatory requirements.
Primary Duties
- Interface directly with customers to gather technical requirements, understanding full project scope and other customer needs.
- Submit RFQs to contract manufacturers, and reviewing returned quotes, ensuring package encompasses customer's requirements, engineering best practices, industry standards, and regulatory requirements for the product.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, including contract manufacturing, supplier quality engineers, and customer stake holders to ensure seamless program execution.
- Prepare comprehensive documentation, including drawings, DVPs, and PPAPs to meet both internal and customer's requirements.
- Manage Customer & Internal APQP Process
- Lead process improvement projects to improve quality, efficiency, or capabilities.
- Facilitate the fabrication of prototype product, gauges & fixtures and test equipment builds.
- Manage the requirements for PPAP and review accompanying documentation. Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional, reliability and quality requirements.
- Work with quality engineers to interpret process certifications and flow charts to identify process weaknesses and recommend appropriate corrective actions.

Qualifications
- Product Development Experience in automotive or equivalent industry
- Thorough knowledge of SolidWorks or, other CAD software
- Thorough knowledge of GD&T drafting techniques
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Access
- Knowledge of EPDM or other PDM software
- Knowledge of APQP preferred
- Understanding of manufacturing capabilities; i.e. machining, stamping, casting, injection molding, electronics assembly
- Basic knowledge of automotive mechanical & electrical systems
- Experience in cross-functional team
- Physical Requirement: Capability to lift 20 pounds.
- Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen. Noise level is usually moderate.
Education / Experience
- 3 - 4 years' experience with Bachelors' degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
