Position Responsibilities

Deltek seeks a Director of Engineering to lead global teams sustaining and enhancing the Deltek Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) suite. These mature products serve a broad customer base and require continued stability, quality, and innovation.

This role combines operational excellence with transformational leadership and will lead globally distributed teams. The Director will ensure enterprise-grade reliability while rethinking how engineering operates in a GenAI and digital labor world. The ideal candidate will drive measurable improvements in product quality, customer satisfaction, and efficiency, while evolving the organization to embrace AI-first operating models.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence & Quality
  • Improve product quality metrics, customer satisfaction, and support case reduction
  • Enhance developer productivity via optimized teams, processes, and tooling
  • Reduce development and ownership costs through strategic initiatives
  • Establish and track KPIs for quality, productivity, and cost
  • Deliver predictable, high-quality releases
  • Embed GenAI and agentic AI in development and delivery
  • Define new standards of engineering excellence
Transformation & Evolution
  • Lead adoption of AI-first practices across engineering operations
  • Design operating models blending human talent and AI agents
  • Create transition strategies balancing transformation with delivery excellence
  • Build readiness for continuous change as AI capabilities advance
Team & Organizational Development
  • Lead global teams through operational and transformational change
  • Make strategic decisions on team evolution while maintaining morale
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and bold innovation

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 15+ years in software engineering with 5+ years leading transformational change
  • Deep technical expertise in software architecture, development, and engineering excellence
  • Proven record of improving quality, customer satisfaction, and productivity
  • Experience reducing operational costs without sacrificing quality
  • Leadership of globally distributed teams across time zones
  • Demonstrated success implementing new operating models with measurable results
  • Data-driven approach to metrics, KPIs, and outcomes
  • Strong leadership navigating ambiguity, resistance, and change
  • Curiosity and hands-on experimentation with emerging AI
  • Ability to redesign and scale workflows for higher productivity, quality, and speed
  • Willingness to challenge assumptions and embrace AI-first possibilities
  • Experience in a software product company
  • Background with enterprise-scale applications in project management, ERP, or related domains
US Citizenship Required for this position

Compensation Information

The U.S. salary range for this position is $117500.00 - $205750.00. This range is subject to change as Deltek takes a number of factors into consideration when determining individual base pay, such as location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including incentive compensation and equity.
