About the Position The Administrative Specialist Senior provides direct administrative support to the Bureau Commander and other Command Staff of the Professional Standards Bureau, a section of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. This role frequently interacts with the general public, other law enforcement entities, attorneys, County offices, and employees of MCSO and requires a professional and dependable demeanor. - High School diploma or GED
Experience
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible clerical or administrative experience.
OR Combined education and experience qualifications
- Post-secondary education and/or work experience may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.
Other requirements
- Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire.
- Training with the exception of Arizona driver's license to be provided on-the-job: FEMA NIMS - IS100 and 700; OSHA training; ADP payroll training; PREA training.
- Prior to hiring, the Sheriff's Office requires that all candidates pass a background review.

Essential Job Tasks (This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.)
- Performs highly responsible and complex administrative support independently and with minimal guidance.
- Administers programs and processes specific to the Bureau.
- Maintains files and databases; prepares complex reports, forms, and correspondence of a highly confidential nature.
- Provides customer service in person, via email and telephone to the general public, other law enforcement entities, attorneys, County offices, and employees of MCSO.
- Schedules and coordinates meetings and conferences.
- Assists with monitoring, preparation of budget data, and performs statistical analysis and reports.
- Coordinates purchasing, accounting, and personnel functions for the Bureau.
- Comprehends, interprets and communicates information regarding MCSO's Policy and Procedures; and the Maricopa County Administrative Manual.
- Directs workflow and participates in special projects and programs as assigned.
- Assists with payroll functions within the ADP payroll system.
- Acts as liaison communicating effectively with Sheriff's Office personnel, other County Departments, law enforcement, and the general public.
- Resolves complaints and/or addresses issues in difficult situations.
- Assists with training and travel requests and works directly with the MCSO Travel Coordinator.
- Performs a variety of other duties ranging from basic deliveries to other County agencies to incorporating and updating complex data in databases.
- Provides backup for other administrative staff by answering phone calls from the public to accept comments and complaints.
- Be present at the work site to perform all tasks as assigned and scheduled by supervisor.
Working Conditions Work occurs primarily indoors. Tasks require managing constant interruptions, time pressures, and high work volumes. Job includes team-oriented activities and interaction with all levels of County management and personnel as well as the public.
