MedscapeLIVE! develops and produces compelling live, face-to-face educational programs designed to produce behavioural outcomes in a multitude of therapeutic areas and tailored formats across the globe. If you are looking for a career that provides you with the opportunity to combine your natural organizational skills, ability to think on your feet to solve problems, and love of processes with your communication and leadership skills, this Event Planning Manager position will provide that for initiatives that truly make an impact on physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers and, thus, the lives of those around you.
Are you an experienced Event Manager ready to take the lead on high-profile live events in the healthcare and life sciences industry? We're looking for a detail-driven professional to join our team in Atlanta, GA. You'll oversee everything from Advisory Boards and Symposia to Steering Committees and Masterclasses, ensuring each event runs seamlessly from start to finish.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an Event Manager who's mastered logistics and vendor management and now wants to own their projects, grow in leadership, and make an impact in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
What You'll Do
  • You'll be responsible for managing every detail of our live events, from sourcing venues and vendors to negotiating contracts, coordinating food and beverage, overseeing AV, and ensuring smooth onsite execution.
  • You'll take ownership of event budgets-building accurate forecasts, tracking savings, managing reconciliations, and providing clear post-event reporting.
  • At events, you'll be the go-to person for ensuring everything runs seamlessly. That means supervising staff, managing setup and tear-down, keeping attendee flow smooth, and troubleshooting any challenges that come up.
  • Behind the scenes, you'll handle the logistics of event materials-shipping, tracking, and managing inventory so the right resources are always ready when needed.
  • You'll also work closely with Program Management and Audience Engagement teams to boost attendance and create memorable onsite experiences for participants.
  • Part of your role will include supporting the growth of the team by helping to train associates and freelancers, sharing your expertise and best practices in event planning.
  • And because we're always looking to raise the bar, you'll play a part in improving how we work-streamlining processes, introducing new ideas, and finding ways to make each event even better than the last.
Who You Are
  • You're a proactive and highly organized planner who thrives in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments. Details matter to you, and you have the discipline to juggle multiple projects while keeping accuracy front and center. Problem-solving comes naturally-you're able to adapt quickly, think on your feet, and find creative solutions when challenges arise.
  • You're confident in managing budgets and understand the importance of cost control, forecasting, and financial accountability. You're also collaborative by nature, someone who builds strong working relationships with colleagues, vendors, and partners. Technology is a tool you use to stay ahead, and you're comfortable with platforms like Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other event management tools.
  • Flexibility is essential. You're open to evening and weekend work, and travel excites you, whether it's across the U.S. or occasionally abroad. Most importantly, you take pride in bringing people together and ensuring events are not only well run, but truly memorable.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree is preferred, and a CMP certification would be a plus. You should bring 4-6 years of experience in event or conference management, ideally within the healthcare or life sciences sector. You'll have proven success in planning and executing events ranging from 25 to 500 attendees. Strong communication skills-both written and verbal-are essential, along with the ability to work independently and within dynamic teams.
Bonus points if you've worked with Workfront or similar project management software. As part of the role, you'll need to be comfortable with some physical activity, including lifting up to 50 pounds when preparing or setting up event materials onsite.
Why Join Us?
At our core, we believe great events change perspectives, build connections, and inspire action. As an Event Manager here, you'll not only bring events to life-you'll grow your career in a supportive, collaborative environment that values innovation and teamwork.
We offer a competitive salary of $68,000-$75,000 with eligibility for a discretionary company bonus. Our benefits package includes health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off (vacation, sick leave, and flexible holidays), and a 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching. You'll also have access to life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and commuter benefits where applicable.
