Job Purpose

Provide the leadership and technical knowledge to help arrange, organize, manage, and implement the internal crews portion of the Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Program within National Grid US.

Key Accountabilities
  • Plan, organize and lead internal UAS operations in support of the various functions within National Grid
  • Hire, train and lead the dedicated internal National Grid UAS crew members.
  • Facilitate the selection, training and deployment of UAS to select internal field UAS users within National Grid.
  • Oversee and manage equipment purchased for internal crew members.
  • Oversee and manage equipment purchased for the selected internal field UAS users.
  • Select, train, monitor and provide guidance to the external UAS companies and crews through the UAS MSA RFP process.
  • Ensure external companies and crews using UAS are operating safely and in accordance with National Grid requirements.
  • Work with National Grid Procurement and other departments as needed during the selection and onboarding process of external UAS companies.
  • Manage the UAS Contractors throughout the MSA lifecycle.
  • Manage, train and inspect existing National Grid contractors that desire to use UAS on the work they are performing for National Grid
  • Help facilitate the coordination of UAS service requests between National Grid stakeholders, internal crew members and UAS contractors.
  • Maintain necessary operational processes and procedures within the UAS General Operations Manual for internal and external crews.
  • Collaborate with internal and external resources in collection and development of best operational use cases for UAS.
  • Stay current in technological developments in the UAS industry and implement as required.
  • Provide internal and external communications regarding UAS operations to all stakeholders.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
  • Ability to teach, coach, motivate and lead a team.
  • Strong analytical skills; must be able to provide timely and accurate interpretation of analyses.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, in a concise, clear, and engaging manner.
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks and determine priorities in a complex environment
  • Ability to build relationships both internally and externally at all levels.
  • Ability to act as a RPIC or crew member as required.
  • Effective communication skills - verbal/written and presentation - capable of tailoring communications to meet stakeholder\customer needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability in delivery of procedures to small and large diverse audiences.

Salary: $100,000 - $118,000

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
