While the majority of our employees are hybrid, the following classifications drive our current minimum onsite requirements:

  • Hybrid People Leaders: must reside in AZ, required to be onsite at least twice per week

  • Hybrid Individual Contributors: must reside in AZ, unless otherwise cited within this posting, required to be onsite at least once per week

  • Hybrid 2 (Operational Roles such as but not limited to: Customer Service, Claims Processors, and Correspondence positions): must reside in AZ, unless otherwise cited within this posting, required to be onsite at least once per month

  • Onsite: daily onsite requirement based on the essential functions of the job

  • Remote: not held to onsite requirements, however, leadership can request presence onsite for business reasons including but not limited to staff meetings, one-on-ones, training, and team building

This position is hybrid within the state of AZ only.This hybrid work opportunity requires residency, and work to be performed, within the State of Arizona.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Tribal Liaison is responsible for a range of functions to improve and coordinate integrated health services for American Indian/Alaska Native members and serves as a single point of contact (liaison) for tribal nations/entities and providers, Medicaid Business Segment network providers, members, regulators, and other stakeholders. The Tribal Liaison collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to fulfill the contractual requirements related to tribal activities and engagement. This position requires travel throughout the state of Arizona.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required Work Experience

  • Two years' experience working with American Indian tribal entities and programs (Arizona preferred)
  • Two years' experience with programs in the area of assignment such as public health, managed care, tribal programs and services; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position

Required Education

  • A Bachelor's degree in public health, behavioral health, or related field

  • A valid Arizona driver license with an acceptable driving record

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as the liaison for tribal nations and tribal providers, promoting services and programs to improve the health of American Indian/Alaska Native members, as specified in the contract.
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to meet all contractual requirements for tribal-related activities.
  • Provides oversight and reporting of tribal programs and services, including coordination of care, behavioral and physical health services, telehealth services, suicide prevention, and crisis services.
  • Establishes collaborative relationships and recurring meetings with the key stakeholders, including AHCCCS, tribal nations, tribal providers, Indian Health Service (IHS), Tribal Health Programs (THP), and Urban Indian Health Programs (UIHP), for the purposes of communication, data sharing, care coordination, and use of the Health Information Exchange (HIE).
  • Develops new initiatives aimed at enhancing care and reducing disparities for American Indian/Alaska Native members.
  • Plans and implements network development activities in partnership with the Network Services Department to expand and enhance integrated health services for American Indian/Alaska Native members.
  • Advocates for care management/navigation for AHCCCS-eligible American Indian/Alaska Native members.
  • Develops and conducts training and technical assistance for providers, Medicaid Business Segment staff, and other stakeholders regarding tribal sovereignty, tribal systems, cultural competency, COE/COT, and services for American Indian/Alaska Native members.
  • Attends all AHCCCS Tribal Consultation meetings.
  • Serves on Medicaid Business Segment and state committees and participates in regular meetings with tribal and provider agencies, stakeholders, and state agencies.
  • Develops agreements between Medicaid Business Segment, network providers, and tribal entities for provision of services for American Indian/Alaska Native members on and off tribal lands.
  • Develops reports and deliverables as required by contract, including the annual Tribal Report.
  • Serves as the single point of contact regarding delivery of integrated health services and other issues concerning American Indian/Alaska Native members.
  • Travels throughout the state of Arizona as needed for job related responsibilities. This position requires the employee to reside within the Geographical Service Area in Greater Arizona.

  • The position requires a full-time work schedule. Full-time is defined as working at least 40 hours per week, plus any additional hours as requested or as needed to meet business requirements.
