Job Description

This project engineering role supports pick and place operations within printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) across global Rockwell Automation facilities. You will be part of a specialized team focused on advancing PCBA technologies, standardizing processes, and driving innovation in Printed Circuit Board Assembly technology (PCBA). The team's mission is to enhance long-term profitability, quality, and reliability of PCBA products through expert-level process leadership and strategic technology deployment. You will report to the Manager of PCBA Process Engineering. You will work hybrid from Mequon, WI, Mayfield Heights, OH or Twinsburg, OH.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Create and maintain standards, procedures, technical documentation, and training materials specific to pick and place operations.
  • Lead the development and optimization of pick and place processes using tools such as Design of Experiments (DOE), FMEA, and statistical analysis.
  • Assess global PCBA facilities for compliance with pick and place process standards and drive corrective actions.
  • Research and evaluate emerging pick and place technologies through benchmarking, conferences, and technical forums.
  • Lead capital projects involving the selection, purchase, and deployment of pick and place equipment.
  • Collaborate on design for manufacturability initiatives, including integration of pick and place considerations into PCBA Design Guidelines.
  • Monitor and report on pick and place process performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Drive productivity initiatives to reduce cost, improve placement accuracy, and increase throughput.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise in key areas such as:
    • SMT equipment selection and optimization
    • Nozzle and feeder configuration strategies
    • Component placement accuracy and vision systems
    • Line balancing and throughput analysis
    • Maintenance and troubleshooting of pick and place machines
The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • The ability to travel 10% of the time.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in pick and place operations within PCBA manufacturing.
  • Proven expertise in installing, programming, or optimizing pick and place equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead process improvements and share technical knowledge through documentation and presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams
