LOCATION: Yuma Proving Ground, AZ

JOB STATUS: Full-time

CLEARANCE: Secret (Active)

CERTIFICATION: N/A

TRAVEL: Up to 20%, as needed

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Safety Manager supporting the Army Division. The Safety Manager will play a critical role in fostering a culture of safety and ensuring a proactive approach to risk management across all program operations. This position serves as a subject matter expert in safety regulations and compliance, working closely with leadership, field teams, and facility personnel to promote safe work environments. The ideal candidate will combine a strong knowledge of OSHA and other regulatory standards with practical experience implementing safety programs in dynamic, high-risk settings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline preferred.

    • Candidates without a degree may be considered with 7+ years of directly related field experience in safety and quality control.

  • Certifications:

    • Completion of relevant safety/environmental training and certifications, such as:

      • OSHA 10 and 30 (General Industry and Construction)

      • HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response)

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in complex and diverse safety environments.

    • Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of military equipment, including weapons and vehicles.

    • Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and NFPA regulations.

    • Proven ability to develop and deliver safety training through strong written and verbal communication skills.

    • Practical experience in emergency response and/or incident investigation.

  • Security Clearance:

    • Active SECRET clearance required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement safety and health procedures and practices in compliance with corporate policies, as well as federal, state, local, and contract regulations.

  • Ensure organization-wide OSHA compliance by facilitating the development, implementation, and enforcement of safety processes.

  • Manage the safety audit program for field activities and facility operations to maintain strict adherence to OSHA, state, test range, and contractual safety requirements.

  • Provide expert guidance and support to ensure compliance with safety-related contract obligations.
