Summary of the Job:

The Senior Director of Commercial Credit Risk Oversight is a key enterprise leader responsible for setting and executing best-in-class credit risk practices across the bank's commercial lending portfolios, including Commercial Real Estate (CRE), Commercial & Industrial (C&I), and Agricultural lending. This individual will lead high-impact, cross-functional initiatives in partnership with business lines, credit officers, risk governance, and technology teams.
This role involves oversight of risk rating frameworks, portfolio monitoring, risk reporting, and the management of evolving credit risk factors including refinance risk and policy exceptions. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in credit risk management, excellent leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to anticipate and adapt to macroeconomic and industry trends.

About This Role:

  • Lead the design and implementation of a new dual risk rating model for all commercial portfolios, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and internal capital planning needs.
  • Lead the risk management framework for refinance risk exposure across CRE, C&I, and Ag portfolios, especially in a high-interest-rate environment.
  • Oversee portfolio-level credit risk monitoring and trend analysis, including identification of emerging risks and stress testing implications.
  • Collaborate with business line credit officers to identify, report, and remediate policy exceptions, concentrations, and documentation issues.
  • Establish and maintain credit risk dashboards and governance materials for executive and board-level consumption.
  • Partner with credit policy and analytics teams to evolve commercial credit risk appetite thresholds, credit underwriting guidelines, and collateral management requirements.
  • Serve as a senior commercial credit SME in strategic planning sessions and lead division-level credit committees.
  • Provide thought leadership and mentoring to other credit and risk professionals across the enterprise.

The Ideal Candidate for This Role:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in commercial credit risk, including deep knowledge of CRE, C&I, and Agricultural lending.
  • Proven leadership of enterprise-wide credit or risk initiatives, including model implementations or large-scale policy overhauls.
  • Strong understanding of dual risk rating frameworks, regulatory expectations (e.g., OCC, FDIC), and capital adequacy principles.
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative risk assessment skills, with the ability to distill complex portfolio trends into actionable insights.
  • Experience presenting to senior executives, credit committees, and regulatory agencies.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.

Candidates must possess unrestricted work authorization and not require future sponsorship.

Compensation:

Compensation range (base pay): $141,440.00-$240,448.00

This role may have a specific starting pay within this range.

Final compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.
