Job Summary:

Principal Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. Work is performed at an advanced or expert level.

The Business Services Professional plays a pivotal role in supporting the financial and administrative management of a large rehabilitation science research portfolio. This position ensures compliance with institutional, federal, and sponsor regulations while providing strategic financial oversight and operational support to the principal investigator, other faculty and administrative staff working on university and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) projects.

Work Location:

Hybrid - this role is eligible to work remotely 2 days per week.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications for Senior Level:

  • A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, healthcare administration, public administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.

  • Two years of professional-level experience in business operations and financial oversight with proven ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and tight deadlines, while ensuring timely delivery and effective communication across all levels.

  • Experience with grant finances management.

Minimum Qualifications for Principal Professional Level:

  • All of the above.

  • A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, healthcare administration, public administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.

  • Five years of professional-level experience in business operations and financial oversight with demonstrated ability managing complex projects, multiple deadlines and various stakeholders.

  • Experience with grant finances management.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications for Senior Level:

  • Master's degree in business, finance, accounting, healthcare administration, or a related field.

  • Four years of professional-level experience in business operations and financial oversight with demonstrated ability managing complex projects, multiple deadlines and various stakeholders.

  • Experience working in an academic or research setting.

  • Experience with grant finances management.

Preferred Qualifications for Principal Professional Level:

  • Master's degree in business, finance, accounting, healthcare administration, or a related field.

  • Three years of professional-level experience in business operations and financial oversight with demonstrated ability managing complex projects, multiple deadlines and various stakeholders.

  • Experience working in an academic or research setting.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as

HIRING RANGE:

Sr Professional $58,792-$74,784

Principal Professional: $67,611-$86,001

If you have prior state-classified service in the same class series as this position, your pay may be set at a higher amount per the state Step Pay Program implemented on July 1, 2024. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
