Hospital Clinical Teacher/Educator

Responsibilities

Under the direction of Human Resources, the Clinical Teacher serves as the Hospital Educator responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating professional development and educational programs for all hospital staff, including clinical and non-clinical personnel. This role collaborates with department leaders across inpatient, outpatient, and support services to assess learning needs and deliver targeted education that promotes excellence in patient care, safety, compliance, and staff engagement. The Clinical Teacher ensures that training initiatives align with organizational goals, regulatory standards, and evidence-based practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate from an accredited Bachelor's degree program of nursing
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
  • Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience, with at least one (1) year of psychiatric experience
  • Successful completion of Handle with Care, Verbal De-escalation, AMSR, and BLS, provided by INBH

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Education or Nursing
  • Experience with infection control and or employee health
  • Demonstrated experience in staff education, training, or professional development
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
  • At least one (1) year experience in clinical competency testing, orientation, training, and policy development highly desirable

Qualifications

  • Assess, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive education programs to support orientation, competency, and professional development for staff across all departments.
  • Design and deliver training using evidence-based content and diverse instructional methods tailored to various learning styles and work environments.
  • Support the implementation of new or evolving programs, services, and initiatives by developing and facilitating related educational content.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to identify training needs and provide targeted education and remediation as needed.
  • Assist in the development and communication of policies, procedures, and protocols, ensuring staff are informed and trained on updates.
  • Serve as a resource and subject matter expert for staff education, professional development, and regulatory training requirements.
  • Coordinate and oversee annual competency assessments for multidisciplinary staff using a collaborative, staff-driven process.
  • Participate in strategic planning, quality improvement initiatives, and organizational committees as assigned.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and contribute to the development of annual education goals and strategies.
