In our quest to harness the potential of plants to feed the world, we seek a LIMS implementation engineer to help us implement a Lab Information Management System that serves as the foundation for our lab digitalization. As a LIMS implementation engineer, you will be responsible for the technical implementation, configuration, and customization of the LIMS for our biotech/trait research operations in our Seeds Research Labs in Durham, NC (RTP).

You will work closely with the global LIMS implementation lead, the IT team, and the laboratory staff to ensure that the LIMS meets the technical requirements and the business objectives. You will also facilitate the testing, deployment, and maintenance of the LIMS and provide ongoing technical support and improvement suggestions. This position will also collaborate with labs in Beijing to adapt the RTP-workflows for Beijing's processes.

Accountabilities:

  • Configure and customize the LIMS according to the requirements and specifications, using the vendor and Syngenta-provided tools and APIs.
  • Develop and integrate custom modules, scripts, and reports as needed to extend the functionality of the LIMS.

  • Implement globally aligned LIMS standards between US and China sites, ensuring unique configurations for site-specific processes while collaborating with stakeholders to meet functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Manage the technical architecture, infrastructure, and security of the LIMS, including participation in testing, deployment, data migration, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Provide technical support, training, and timely issue resolution for LIMS users and administrators, while documenting system architecture, configurations, and best practices.
  • Monitor LIMS performance, communicate project progress, and report issues and risks to relevant stakeholders and management.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with experience working in biotech; or a degree in a biotech-related field with experience working as a developer or implementing a commercial off-the-shelf LIMS product
  • Professional Experience:
    • Minimum 3 years as a LIMS implementation engineer or similar IT role, preferably in biotechnology or life sciences
    • Proven track record in delivering complex IT systems, particularly LIMS or laboratory applications
    • Experience in requirements gathering, iterative design, and working with LIMS vendors and IT teams
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Strong knowledge of LIMS architecture, infrastructure, and security standards
    • Proficiency in SQL, Java, JavaScript, REST, and other relevant technologies
    • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and project management tools
  • Excellent analytical abilities for understanding complex business processes
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
