Commercial Director, Construction

Huntsman is seeking a Commercial Director, Construction supporting the Huntsman Polyurethanes Division located in The Woodlands, Texas. This position will report to the Polyurethanes Americas VP.

Job Scope

The Commercial Director, Construction will be responsible for the development and execution of the Construction Segment Commercial Strategy in North America. The role will have responsibility for the Sales Revenue generation, Sales Mix and Contribution Margin quality in the region, which is approx. $850M Sales/Annum for Polyurethanes and Polyol portfolio with expectations to deliver 15%+ EBITDA profitability across the business cycle. The Commercial Strategy must be aligned with the overall Business Strategy of the Americas region and is informed by the segment-specific Marketing Plans. Organizationally, the Commercial Director has direct line management responsibility for the Strategic Accounts Team as well as the Commercial Excellence group. The Commercial Director, Construction will, together with the Commercial Director, Consumer, be responsible to build strong, and lasting relationships at all levels of the major accounts within the Polyurethanes Americas organization, promote Huntsman culture and ethics while delivering on profitable sales.

In summary, as the Commercial Director, Construction you will:

  • Conduct all commercial activities in accordance with the Huntsman Ethics & Compliance values and guidelines
  • Lead a team of Key and Strategic Account Managers. (3 FTEs)
  • Lead a group of Senior Account Managers (2 FTEs)
  • Lead the Commercial Excellence team (4 FTEs)
  • Develop and actively manage performance vs budget expectation, in terms of volume, revenue, price, contribution margin as well as commercial fixed cost and cash-performance (DSO & Overdues)
  • Drive value expansion in Key and Strategic accounts while managing share of wallet in dynamic market conditions.
  • Conduct customer strategies to create customer intimacy, strategic alignment and partnered goals within accounts.
  • Maintain, develop and leverage relationships with key decision makers or influencers within the selected accounts at the senior and C-Suite levels.
  • Responsibility for creating environments for scoping and discovering new projects with Key and Strategic customers.
  • Set the vision and objectives to provide successful and sustainable sales tools through the Commercial Excellence team.
  • Envision new tools, collaborate for the creation of tools and drive adoption of best practice and solutions delivered through Commercial Excellence.
  • Leverage and use Sales and Pricing Excellence strategies to increase business profitability.
  • Be a collaborative partner for Supply Chain (Customer Service, S&OP), Credit, Marketing, Technology (Innovation, Technical Service) and Operations as an active member of the Americas Leadership Team.
  • Lead the Voice of Customer activities to strengthen Market Intelligence to move data gathering into decision making and supporting knowledge.
  • Leverage and use 'best-practice' Sales and Pricing Excellence strategies to increase business profitability.
  • Establish and coordinate with Commercial Director, Consumer to drive a culture of success and career growth through the use of development plans, internal L&D resources and external providers.
  • Increase the competencies of the Commercial organization by finding, hiring and developing new world class talent.
  • Develop a high-performance commercial culture in the organization.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

  • University (bachelor's degree) in Engineering/Science/Business, preferably with experiences in Plastics, Polymers or Chemicals
  • Post-Graduate (Masters, PhD) in Business, Marketing
  • Minimum 5 years of Leadership Team experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of Account Management Leadership.
  • Minimum5 years of experience in a Chemical/Polyurethane industry.
  • Experience leading and managing within Customer C-suite level
