Position Summary/Details:

The TECO Energy Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study. Work assignments are consistent with the work needs of the department and the company and provide meaningful and challenging work to the student. This position would specifically focus on Project Controls for large technology and infrastructure construction projects as a part of Tampa Electric's Advanced Distribution Infrastructure (ADI) Capital Program.

Accountabilities: As a successful candidate for our position you would:




  • Support day-to-day ADI Project Control activities including Capital and O&M actuals reporting, developing Capital project budgets and forecasts, and developing various financial reports for ADI, IT, and Electric Delivery leadership.
  • Support development of month end accruals for project and vendor expenses.
  • Support procurement and contract review activities.
  • Regularly interact with project SMEs and vendors to ensure project milestones and deliverables are being met.
  • Regularly interact with Tampa Electric support teams including Finance, Procurement, Legal, etc....



Physical Location of Co-op:

TECO Tampa Headquarters (The exact address will be shared prior to starting)

Working Conditions

Mostly in a normal office environment, a successful candidate may visit the field occasionally. This may include riding in a company vehicle on-road and off-road, walking on uneven surfaces, and entering service yards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.

Co-Op Requirements:

To qualifyas a co-op student, enrollment in the university's co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.

A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.

Required Degree:

Currently pursuing one of the following: Business, Finance, Economics, Project Management, Engineering or related

Preferred/Related Discipline:

Business, Finance, or Economics

Year in School:

Junior or Senior

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Microsoft Suite Applications (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc)
  • Baseline understanding of how to operate Power BI dashboards
  • General understanding of financial statements & accounting
  • Ability to self-start and operate independently
  • Strong attention to detail
