Scope of Work:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide management and oversight of the USAFA National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) program. Processing requirements for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) for managing relationships that exist within and between natural systems and human systems.

Responsibilities:

* NEPA Documentation: Assist in the preparation and organization of Environmental Impact Analysis Process

(EIAP) documents, including Environmental Assessments (EAs), Findings of No Significant Impact (FONSIs), Findings of No Practicable Alternatives (FONPAs), Environmental Impact Statements (EISs), Records of Decision (RODs), and Categorical Exclusion determinations, in accordance with 32 CFR 989 and 40 CFR 1500.

* Environmental Analysis: Analyze environmental issues across various resources (e.g., land use, socioeconomics, transportation, air quality, natural resources, water resources, cultural resources, noise) to support informed decision-making.

* Coordination and Communication: Assist in preparing and presenting briefings to leadership at various levels. Coordinate with base agencies on NEPA-related matters and maintain relevant databases.

* Environmental Baseline Surveys: Prepare and organize Environmental Baseline Surveys in accordance with AFI 32-7020, ASTM E1527, and D6008. This includes site reconnaissance, historical research, and map creation using GIS.

* Regulatory Compliance: Broad understanding of environmental science and management, with knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations. Familiarity with Air Force environmental regulations is preferred.

* Professional Conduct: Perform all assigned duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, and directives. Demonstrate courtesy and skill in interactions with internal and external customers, coworkers, and management. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for efficient information retrieval.

* Task Management: Follow up on suspense items to ensure timely completion. Consistently deliver high-quality products and services. Work independently while maintaining quality performance. Complete all required training within established timelines.

* Problem Solving: Resolve problems promptly with minimal disruption to operations.

* Safety and Security: Perform all work in a safe and secure manner. Demonstrate dependability and adhere to prescribed standards of dress, hygiene, and conduct while representing the company.

Second Duties:

* Assist with Air Installation Compatibility Use Zone (AICUZ) study updates.

* Provide assistance during Tribal consultations, as needed.

* Support departmental mission requirements through taskers and other assignments.

* Manage records for the Environmental Planner.

* Perform additional duties as required to support departmental mission requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree in environmental science, engineering, environmental management, chemistry, or biology from an accredited university.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.
