PGAL is seeking an experienced, visionary, and hands-on Visualization Director to build and lead our in-house visualization team. As a critical member of the Design Technology group, this leader will establish PGAL's unique visual identity and narrative style across all visualization deliverables. The Visualization Director will be responsible for both creative direction and day-to-day management, guiding a team that supports cross-discipline project teams and sets a new standard for architectural visual storytelling at PGAL.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development
- Build, hire, and develop an internal visualization team from the ground up
- Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and professional growth
- Mentor and upskill team members; develop training resources for visualization best practices
- Drive talent development within the team and contribute to staff upskilling initiatives firmwide
Creative Direction & Production
- Set the creative vision for all visualization work at PGAL, defining the firm's narrative and visual storytelling standards
- Remain hands-on, especially during the initial team-building phase, and provide direct support on key deliverables as needed
- Oversee the production of high-quality visualizations, including still images, animations, VR/AR, real-time experiences, and simulations
- Guide visualization style and content to reinforce PGAL's brand and project messaging
Project & Resource Management
- Collaborate closely with Architecture, Interiors, Engineering, and other project teams to define, schedule, and manage visualization deliverables
- Interface with project managers and design leads, integrating visualization into project workflows and timelines
- Build and maintain shared visualization resources - develop and curate firmwide libraries of assets, materials, and entourage
- Develop and refine workflows for visualization production and delivery
External Relationships & Vendor Management
- Select, manage, and maintain strong working relationships with external visualization consultants, partners, and third-party vendors
- Establish standards for quality, schedule, and communication with third-party visualization partners
- QC and coordinate deliverables from outside vendors to ensure they meet PGAL's standards
Technology, Tools & Innovation
- Stay at the forefront of visualization technologies, with deep expertise in the Epic Games (Unreal/Twinmotion) and Chaos (V-Ray, Enscape, Envision) ecosystems, as well as 3ds Max and related platforms
- Evaluate and implement emerging tools and workflows for visualization, including VR, AR, simulation, and AI integration as the practice evolves
- Advocate for and facilitate the use of visualization technology across the firm.
Training & Upskilling
- Develop and deliver training programs and resources to elevate visualization literacy across PGAL
- Mentor project staff in visualization essentials and best practices Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Design, Visualization, or Animation required
- 10+ years of experience in architectural visualization, with at least three years in a creative or team leadership role
- Demonstrated success building and managing high-performing visualization teams
- Expert-level proficiency with 3D visualization tools, especially Unreal Engine, Twinmotion, V-Ray, Enscape, and 3ds Max
- Strong visual storytelling, artistic, and creative direction skills
- Deep understanding of the architectural design process and how visualization integrates into project delivery
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management abilities
- Experience working with and managing third-party visualization vendors or consultants
- Passion for innovation, mentoring, and team building
