Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Director of Project Management for the Office of Institutional Research and Decision Support.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Provides a high level of project management oversight and analysis on major university wide initiatives and special projects with high visibility.
  • Acts as the bridge between inquiries, data collection, analysis, and strategic decision-making to ensure university leadership, from across Rutgers, has the information they need to make informed decisions that enhance the institution's performance.
  • Provides project management, with a customer service-focused mindset, for OIRDS' core activity of capturing, extracting, analyzing, and reporting institutional data on faculty, students, staff, and other critical academic needs for leadership's decision-making purposes and external reporting requirements.
  • Assists the Vice President in managing the workflow of Institutional Research projects.
  • Performs professional work that requires specialized to general knowledge of the field of institutional research, and possess a solid understanding, use and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, and terminology of this area of specialization.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in higher education administration, public policy, data science, business administration, applied mathematics, statistics, social science, or in a related scientific field or discipline.
  • Five or more years of project management experience in higher education.


Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with faculty, staff and leadership.
  • Ability to work with individuals with diverse background and perspectives on data usage.
  • Demonstrated management skills in both technical and interpersonal aspects of the role, including the ability to build, lead, and support cross-functional teams while effectively collaborating with various stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with tools and software for project management (examples: Monday.com, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Terminal degree and five years of university administrative experience.
  • Five years or more experience designing, administering, and analyzing surveys or assessments for institutional effectiveness or accreditation purposes.
  • Five years or more experience gathering and analyzing educational data (e.g., student success metrics, faculty surveys, retention rates, enrollment trends.
  • Three or more years of experience in management.
  • Familiarity with tools and software for data analysis (examples: SPSS, SAS, Excel, R, Python, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, Qualtrics,)
