The Industrial Engineering Intern T will work on opportunities to develop working knowledge of core Industrial Engineering concepts while supporting the business on projects to optimize manufacturing processes, improve efficiency and productivity.
Areas of work will include but are not limited to, Space Planning, Capacity Utilization, Time Studies, Process Mapping and Continuous Improvement.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Perform any of the following tasks under the supervision of an assigned Industrial Engineer:
* Lead a project in a specific area of manufacturing and influence decision making on production line layouts.
* Analyze existing processes, identify bottlenecks, and propose solutions to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
* Support Capacity Planning efforts to ensure manufacturing operations can meet production demand.
* Lead on conducting time studies and process flow mapping activities.
* Update and maintain current and future facility layouts on AutoCAD.
* Collect and analyze production data and develop visually impactful dashboards to report findings.
* Adhere to the Company's Quality Management System (QMS) as well as domestic and global quality system regulations, standards, and procedures.
* Understand relevant security, privacy and compliance principles and adhere to the regulations, standards, and procedures that are applicable to the Company.
* Ensure other members of the department follow the QMS, regulations, standards, and procedures.
* Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
* At the culmination of the internship, the intern will prepare and deliver a final presentation to Site leadership, highlighting findings and recommendations for improvements.
Learning Objectives
The Industrial Engineering intern will actively participate in projects that align with the learning objectives outlined below.
* Conduct time studies on production processes to develop robust time standards, leveraging tools like TimerPro and/or LeanEdit.
* Intern will gather and analyze data for key production areas like Coil Winding, Coating, and Pouching.
* Present findings and propose improvement plans.
* Develop proficiency in MS tools by exploring functionality within Excel-based Capacity Planning files.
* Intern will look for opportunities to improve functionality of Capacity Planning files
* Periodic maintenance and updates of existing facility layouts on AutoCAD as it relates to Space Planning and Utilization.
* Continue the development of 3D blocks for equipment
* Publish a modified CAD file through Synaptic mapping and update Space Planning tool in Power BI
Position Qualifications Required
* High school diploma and currently enrolled in Bachelor's degree program for Engineering, Physical Sciences or related technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Position Qualifications Preferred
* College level coursework in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline preferred
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Proficiency with MS Office, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
* Proficiency with AutoCAD, Power BI
Working Conditions
* General office, laboratory, and cleanroom environments
* Willingness and ability to work on site.
* Requires some lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds
* Must be able to move between buildings and floors.
* Must be able to remain stationary and use a computer or other standard office equipment, for an extensive period of time each day.
* Must be able to read, prepare emails, and produce documents and spreadsheets.
* Must be able to move within the office and access file cabinets or supplies, as needed.
* Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information with employees at all levels daily.
Base Pay Range Per Hour: $18.00 - $29.00
Individual compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
