A Brief Overview
The Building Systems Ventilation Specialist I is responsible for cleaning and sanitization of Air handlers, installation process of air filters, beam and fire / smoker wall repairs and cleaning of mechanical space, measuring and reporting differential pressures. On an as need basis, assisting with the operation, troubleshooting, repairing, maintenance and documentation of the heating, refrigeration, air conditioning and other complex mechanical/electrical building systems.

What you will do

  • Receive new air filters and place them in the correct mechanical spaces. Install the air filters into the air handlers. Dispose of used air filters and dumpsters. Maintain the appropriate air filter clips in place to hold the air filters.
  • Clean the campus air handlers, replace the air filters, repair and install air filter racks.
  • Sanitize the air handlers on a routine basis in coordination with the filter program.
  • Maintain the fire and smoke wall integrity of the mechanical rooms and chases; maintain the fire proofing integrity of the beam fire proofing on structural steel.
  • Measure and report room and air handler differential pressures.
  • With supervision and on an emergency basis assist with the following core plant systems - chillers, boilers, steam system, medical and lab gasses, medial and lab vacuum, compressors, pumps, base refrigeration, motors, fans cooling towers, air distribution systems, motor starters, basic electrical systems, thermostats, control systems and other related equipment for troubleshooting maintaining and operation of the equipment.
  • With supervision on an emergency basis provides prompt and courteous response to all service calls.
  • Responds to 90% of all service calls within fifteen (15) minutes of request. Calls user within thirty (30) minutes of request if unable to respond. Confirms repair, adjustment, or need for follow-up service with requestor prior to leaving area. Provides service in a courteous, professional manner always.
  • Performs facilities service and maintenance services throughout facility on second and or third shift during week and on all shifts during weekend.
  • Provides detailed communication both written and verbal to supervisor and co-workers about equipment and system abnormalities and changes.
  • Documents repairs/adjustments performed through accurate, complete entries in logbook, on work orders and on preventative maintenance forms. Communicate all pertinent equipment and operation information to co-workers thereby providing for an accurate shift turnover.
  • Prepares and submits work orders for follow-up by other Operations/Maintenance staff.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of all Hospital and Department Emergency Response Procedures.
  • Maintains a clean, safe environment throughout the facility.

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED - Required

Experience Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year experience in building systems or similar mechanical systems - Required

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills with customers and co-workers.

SALARY RANGE:

$27.35 - $34.19 Hourly

Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
