Position Summary

UNM Taos anticipates hiring a New Mexico resident for an Adjunct Faculty to teach in the Fall
2025 semester for the UNM Taos EMS Education Program to teach and/or develop EMS Lower
Division Courses (100-200 Level).

Anticipated opening (1) includes the following subject and
course: 2-5 credits of EMS 113 and EMS 142
Lab, Emergency Medical Technician Basic, and/or EMS 180 and 143 Lab, Emergency
Medical Technician Intermediate.

These courses meet the NHTSA EMT-Basic National Standard Curriculum
requirements and incorporates New Mexico EMT-B and EMT-I scope of practice.
Provides lecture instruction to prepare the student to sit for New Mexico and
National Registry testing.

Adjunct faculty will be an integral part of the UNM-Taos EMS
Education team and must possess a current license to practice as an EMT-Basic,
EMT-Intermediate, or Paramedic in New Mexico. Candidates will be able to use
the technology platforms at the university to enhance and deliver course work.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as
determined by student enrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and
demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated
each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates
who are selected for these positions will report to the EMS Education Program
Coordinator.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications to teach or develop EMS initial licensure courses in New Mexico is governed by The Joint Organization on Education EMS Instructor/Coordinator Standards: https://www.nmhealth.org/about/erd/emsb/comm/#joe and includes the following:

* Associate degree or higher

* Current NM EMS provider license at or above the level being taught

* 21 years of age

* At least 5 years of relevant clinical experience

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree or higher in EMS or related field

* Current NM Instructor/Coordinator (NM I/C) certification or in process with a UNM-EMS Academy approved I/C course

* 2 years of relevant teaching experience

* Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution

* Successful teaching in a community college

* A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
