About The Role

Are you ready to make a difference in crisis management? Reporting to the Director of Business Readiness, the Manager of Operational Readiness plays a crucial role in ensuring National Grid's preparedness for incident escalation during potential crisis events. This is an exciting opportunity to oversee and enhance the tools and technologies that support our operational readiness, including emergency communication plans, satellite phones, and alert notification systems.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the Charge: Develop and update emergency communication plans and procedures to ensure our team is always ready to respond effectively during crises.
  • Tech Savvy: Oversee the operational readiness of critical tools and technologies, ensuring they are primed for action when needed.
  • Subject Matter Expert: Act as the go-to expert on crisis communication technologies, aligning and integrating readiness initiatives across the business and Group functions.
  • Collaborative Coordinator: Lead the coordination and information sharing of horizon scanning capabilities across National Grid, fostering a culture of preparedness.
  • Software Specialist: Ensure the effective use of applications like Service Now to manage business continuity plans and documentation seamlessly.
  • Continuous Improvement: Conduct regular reviews of operational readiness tools and technologies, ensuring they meet our organisational needs and compliance requirements.
  • Empower Others: Provide training and support to team members and stakeholders on operational readiness technologies and procedures.
  • Engage and Innovate: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback and enhance our operational readiness initiatives.
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve: Monitor industry trends and advancements in operational readiness technologies, recommending enhancements and innovations.
  • Report to Leadership: Prepare insightful reports and presentations for senior management on the status and effectiveness of our operational readiness initiatives.
About You
  • Emergency Communication Expertise: Strong understanding of technologies such as satellite phones, alert notification systems, and horizon scanning software.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with applications like Service Now, particularly in managing business continuity plans and documentation.
  • Crisis Management Knowledge:Familiarity with crisis management frameworks and best practices, with a knack for implementing and enhancing operational readiness initiatives.
  • Project Management Skills:Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives and deliver results on time.
  • Analytical Thinker: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify opportunities for improvement in operational readiness processes.
  • Effective Communicator: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
