About the Role

Culmen International is looking for a Nuclear Weapons Stockpile Historian to support a nuclear weapons program with DTRA at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico.



What You'll Do in Your New Role

As the Nuclear Weapons Stockpile Historian, you will play a pivotal role in providing both administrative and technical support for the Nuclear Operations Division, Stockpile Operations Branch (NE-NLOS).

In this position, you will engage in thorough research, analysis, recording, and interpretation of historical data drawn from a variety of sources, including government and institutional records, newspapers, periodicals, photographs, interviews, films, electronic media, and unpublished manuscripts.

Your specific responsibilities will include:

    Maintaining and updating the nuclear weapons history databases assigned to the Department of Defense (DoD).
  • Conducting comprehensive research to gather data and transcribing it into the designated databases.
  • Digitizing important documents for improved accessibility.
  • Evaluating, validating, and verifying the accuracy of data collected.
  • Investigating and resolving complex historical discrepancies.
  • Preparing detailed reports on nuclear history.
  • Developing training materials and supporting curriculum relevant to the field.
  • Responding to updates regarding nuclear weapons classification policies.
  • Effectively communicating with senior leadership through briefings, presentations, and written or verbal correspondence, ensuring clarity at various comprehension levels.
  • Assisting in the preparation of documentation necessary for responses to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Congressional inquiries, and other official requests.


Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of demonstrated experience AND high school diploma

OR

  • 4+ years of demonstrated experience AND a BA/BS degree.
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, and task driven.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to function independently.
  • Experienced with Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Top Secret clearance
