Pay Rate: $41.01/hr Basic Function (Purpose of Position): To operate and maintain the Boiler Plant and auxiliary equipment necessary to supply, to the site, steam for process and building heating as well as compressed air, chilled water and tower water services. Essential Functions: Duties Operates and maintains boilers including water chemistry and boiler auxiliary equipment. Conducts chemical monitoring of boiler water, cooling tower water and condensate return and adds chemicals as needed. Monitors Bioton Alarm Panel and advises WWTP staff of problems on off shifts. Records readings for gas, steam and water flow meters. Performs routine operational maintenance checks including pump lubrication, valve packing checks and cleaning of fuel oil strainers and oil burners. Accepts fuel oil deliveries. Works in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and internal safety guidelines. Performs all job activities dealing with hazardous wastes in accordance with training received. Performs Boiler Room daily housekeeping and completes all required safety training. Minimum Education/Experience/Skills/Job Knowledge/: High School Diploma or equivalent required with specialized training in Boiler Operations and minimum of Blue Seal Boilers License. Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in a similarly sized boiler plant is preferred. Basic PC skills and knowledge of steam and electric generating equipment and all support equipment is necessary. Effective problem-solving and communication skills, flexibility and commitment to providing quality and timely service are essential.
