About the Department

The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics competes at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics with the vision to reach Next Level Success for all 18 varsity teams and more than 500 student-athletes. The Bearcats have a proud athletics history, winning eight national championships and 117 conference titles. The Cincinnati men's basketball team is among the 15 winningest programs all-time, while the football team became the first American Athletic Conference program to compete in the College Football Playoff in 2021. Olympic gold medalist volleyball player Jordan Thompson, NBA Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson and Major League Baseball legend Sandy Koufax are among the several luminaries who have competed as Bearcats.

Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati, Department of Athletics is seeking applicants for a Director of Operations (Sports Program Associate) to work in the Baseball program. This is a full-time position, salaried, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Reporting to the Head Coach, the successful candidate will be expected to directly support the business operations of the baseball program while following all departmental, university, conference, and NCAA policies and regulations.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for all aspects of any of the following functions within a sport program:

    • Business Operations (direct the operational and logistics function of the program to include managing student-athlete roster, processing contracts, coordinating all aspects of travel and reimbursements, assist with official and unofficial visits in collaboration with support functions.)


  • Identify program needs and implement program improvements.
  • Collaborate with staff to perform administrative tasks in line with program and departmental goals. Serve as ambassador of the program and look for opportunities to connect the program to the community and business partners.
  • May be required to drive a university vehicle and/or student-athletes.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Trainings/Certifications

  • Must be able to pass and maintain NCAA recruiting certification if required by sport program.
  • Valid driver's license.

Required Experience

Previous experience as a coach or collegiate player or work in an athletic department setting.

Additional Qualifications Considered

The position requires some evening hours, weekend hours and travel with the team.
