Job ID: 97249

Do you want to work on complex and pressing challenges-the kind that bring together curious, ambitious, and determined leaders who strive to become better every day? If this sounds like you, you've come to the right place.
Your Impact
You will manage various stages of the coordination process, which include several tasks such as revision of design requests, re-routing, confirmation, clarifying requirements, and request assignment.
In this role, you will help to create outstanding work by being the communication bridge between our consultants and designers, helping to enable a great customer experience throughout by setting expectations, identifying their needs, and assigning the best designers to take care of requests. You will juggle multiple tasks, e.g. go through the design requests in the queue, understand the requirements (design and deadline related), contact our consultants for clarifications/negotiations, route the requests to the correct teams, and assign them to the most optimum designers. You will need to coordinate and negotiate several requests a day, across a handful of different workstreams.
The definition of "teamwork" is a complex yet stimulating combination between side-by-side and virtual collaboration; ownership and commitment are paramount to be successful in the role. You will be working very closely with our designers and consultants. You will be the face of our business and have a great impact on our overall team's performance.
You will also improve the consultants' experience when requesting design-related work by conveying customer service etiquette and sufficient knowledge of design. You will do this by clarifying unclear instructions directly with consultants, understanding their expectations in terms of the design requirements, the scope of the request, time frame to be delivered. You will find yourself negotiating scope and deadlines when required, always demonstrating the maximum level of service orientation by being empathetic, courteous yet assertive, and ensuring that the consultant is informed well in advance regarding delays, issues, or other challenges.
You will need to be comfortable with change and ambiguity. You will face opportunities for continuous change in the team and the business objectives and must be adaptable and open to the challenges of change. You will join us in the Phoenix, Arizona office as a member of the Visual Graphics & Media team, which is part of a global support services function.
With nearly 60 colleagues in US offices, 200 in the San Jose, Costa Rica and 2,000 in Poland and India, we are the visual communications support team for McKinsey consultants. Design Traffic Planners work on different requests every day, interacting with team leaders, peer planners, coaches, and business presentation designers to deliver high-quality products. We ensure that our firm's parameters of excellence are met within the world of business presentation design.
This Design Coordination team aids in checking the requests received and enables the communication between our consultants and designers by setting up the expectations for those presentations/requests. This group works on different projects every day by interacting with consultants, designers, team leaders, and peer planners to deliver high-quality presentations.
Your Growth
Driving lasting impact and building long-term capabilities with our clients is not easy work. You are the kind of person who thrives in a high performance/high reward culture - doing hard things, picking yourself up when you stumble, and having the resilience to try another way forward.
In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we'll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities you need to become a stronger leader faster than you ever thought possible. Your colleagues-at all levels-will invest deeply in your development, just as much as they invest in delivering exceptional results for clients. Every day, you'll receive apprenticeship, coaching, and exposure that will accelerate your growth in ways you won't find anywhere else.
When you join us, you will have:
  • Continuous learning: Our learning and apprenticeship culture, backed by structured programs, is all about helping you grow while creating an environment where feedback is clear, actionable, and focused on your development. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to learn from exceptional colleagues with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • World-class benefits: On top of a competitive salary (based on your location, experience, and skills), we provide a comprehensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, mental health, and vision coverage for you, your spouse/partner, and children.
