DCS Corp has an exciting opportunity for a Journeyman Software Engineer providing support to the HB PEO Digital

This is a full-time position located at Hanscom AFB, Bedford, MA.

Essential Job Functions:

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • You will pair with engineers to identify solutions to technical challenges.
  • You will collaborate with the Portfolio Leadership team on how best to achieve WingC2's CMG OKRs and portfolio goals.
  • You will tackle cross-cutting engineering concerns; fostering an environment for engineers across the organization to collaborate on solutions.
  • You will find opportunities for automation wherever possible and push teams to invest.
  • You will advocate for development and implementation of modern, improved technical approaches; fostering a continuous improvement mindset with our engineering staff.
  • Understand problem spaces of several applications and programs (group of projects), aligned with the organization's vision and mission.
  • Superb communication skills are essential for this position, alignment with all players is often necessary.
  • Breaking down requirements, creating plans and executing them are mandatory skills.
  • Architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact.
  • Working with resources at your disposal, identifying areas of opportunity; weak points and correcting them, including external contracting companies that are partners with the Air Force outsourcing development services.
  • Modernization is not only for hardware, off the shelf software or building in-house software, but also reshaping and upholding agile practices, step by step, and challenging bureaucracy and old waterfall methodologies. You will define engineering standards and best practices, fostering a continuous improvement mindset with our engineering staff.
  • You don't mind working in older systems and technologies, even though the target is to re-architect, rebuild, virtualize and refresh them.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

A High School Diploma plus 13 years of experience, 5 of which must be in the DoD or a Bachelors Degree with 5 years of experience in a DoD setting.

An adjudicated DoD Secret Security clearance on the First Day of employment.

Employee will work on the Enterprise Software team that deploys, monitors, and manages commercial off the shelf and free open source software via our AWS instances (or in one case, compiles an executable and puts it in an S3 bucket for inclusion in Jamf Self-Service).

Skills required include previous work developing and maintaining high-availability business systems.

Experience using Gitlab for version control, CI/CD, and project management is desired.

Python and shell scripting desired.

Candidates should have experience with multi-system interoperability and integration, experience with classified systems and the challenges they present for interoperability and fielding.

Experience with Information Technology (IT) systems, as well as the design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation of software, including familiarity with software Verification and Validation processes. The Contractor shall ensure personnel have credentialing that meet Information Assurance Technical (IAT) level two (2) certification for performance of this work, as outlined in DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, Table AP3.T2.

Experience in full software development lifecycle from conception to include architecture definition, detailed design, embedded software, scoping, planning, implementation, testing to documentation, delivery and sustainment as applied to DoD systems, as well as knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, documentation development and principles of configuration management.

Desired Skills:

Familiarity with Electronic Warfare and/or Air Combat operations including live aircrew training/development of tactics, techniques, and procedures and Range Infrastructure architectures and systems.

Experience with development of networked protocols in both Windows and Linux operating systems.

Pay Range and Benefits: There are a variety of factors that can influence salary at DCS Corp, including but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.

The proposed salary range for this position is:

Salary Range: $71,307 - $100,000
