Function:

Engineering and Engineering Services Job Summary:CF Industries is the world's largest producer of ammonia and a leading global manufacturer of hydrogen and nitrogen products. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the construction of a state-of-the-art, large-scale facility dedicated to producing low-carbon ammonia. This industry-transforming plant is being built from the ground up, utilizing the latest ATR technology combined with carbon capture and sequestration (CCS). This advanced technology is expected to reduce emissions from the ammonia production process by more than 90% compared to conventional plants without CCS. While we are not the first company to build a plant with ATR technology, this will be the largest of its kind.

Position Overview:
The Mechanical Integrity Lead is responsible for leading and executing established mechanical integrity initiatives. This includes the development of the site's Mechanical Integrity program, ensuring CF's commitment to Quality Assurance / Quality Control at Blue Point with minimal supervisory oversight. The successful candidate will possess an extensive knowledge base of applicable fixed equipment codes and standards and respective inspection requirements to serve as a technical resource for the project team. Additionally, they should be capable of coordinating the set up of the E&I and Rotating equipment mechanical integrity programs. The Mechanical Integrity Lead also works closely with the Project Team, key project stakeholders, 3rd party Engineering, and Contractors to participate in design reviews to ensure that equipment design, fabrication, and installation meet the contractual project design specifications, industry codes and standards, and follow good engineering and construction practices. This work includes, but may not be limited to, working with pressure vessels, stationary components of rotating equipment, heat exchangers, piping, storage tanks, valves, pressure relieving devices, boilers, mechanical instrumentation components, instrumentation, electrical equipment, rotating equipment, etc. Job Description:

II. Major Responsibilities:

  • Constructively and efficiently work within the Project Team, which includes Mechanical Engineers, Process Engineers, Project Engineers, E&I engineers, Construction Managers, and Inspection Contractors.

  • Support CF's commitment to meeting critical project milestones through engineering firm oversight of applicable disciplines or departments.

  • Attend equipment Kick-off meetings, Pre-inspection meetings, and inspection activities as needed.

  • Ensure all inspection reports clearly explain equipment condition and are submitted as required contractually.

  • Monitor equipment fabrication schedules of critical equipment and provide status updates on their progress.

  • Support the development of 3rd party engineering firms' Quality Assurance and Quality Control documentation for the EPF scope.

  • Work with a 3rd party to support the development of the site's Mechanical Integrity program. This work includes, but is not limited to, leading and coordinating the effort in establishing mechanical integrity procedures, damage mechanism reports, defining corrosion loops, inspection circuits, equipment inspection intervals, etc.

  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure the site's Mechanical Integrity Program is in compliance with all laws, regulations, and standards.

  • Lead site personnel in the development of E&I and Rotating equipment Mechanical Integrity Program

  • Develop a site welding and pipe fitting qualification test program.

  • Able to perform internal inspections of equipment during site construction and be able to make repair recommendations based on equipment deficiencies.

  • Evaluate and audit potential and contracted organizations' capabilities and QA/QC programs.

  • Evaluate a contract organization's capacity to perform intended project(s) based on the degree of difficulty and the organization's area of expertise as needed.

  • Review and approve contractor onsite weld protocols if needed.

  • Validate contract inspector certifications and qualifications as needed.

V. Incumbent Attributes:

Education: BS/BA in related field or equivalent experience typically required to complete all essential job functions. Preferred: BS in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.

Years of experience: at least 8 years of professional related experience is typically required to complete all essential job functions.

  • Preferred: 10 years of related professional experience is typically required to complete all essential job functions.

  • Preferred: Some combination of Engineering/Inspections at CF (or a comparable chemical manufacturing company or an appropriate engineering and technology services provider).

  • Preferred: Experience with mechanical integrity, fixed equipment fabrication, and inspection.

  • Preferred: Possession of API certifications, including API 510, API 570, API 653, API 580

Other unique job relevant attributes:

  • Preferred: Experience with design, fabrication, installation, and construction of equipment as part of a Mega project.

  • Self-directed working attributes with limited supervisory support required.

  • Ability to make independent decisions

  • Solid working knowledge of US piping systems design and maintenance, pressure vessel specifications and maintenance, inspection techniques, and manpower coordination.

  • Knowledge of industrial codes and standards (API, ASME, ANSI, OSHA, State)

  • Familiarity with source inspection and quality surveillance using API 588 guidelines

  • Ability and willingness to collect field data, enter process equipment for inspections, and otherwise work in an operating chemical facility environment

  • Ability to work alternative shifts/schedules to support 24 hour/7 days per week operations during process unit erection, commissioning, startups, shutdowns, upsets, equipment inspections, and turnarounds.

  • Must be able to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC)

  • Ability to travel globally as required to support project engineering, detailed design, and execution, including equipment fabrication surveillance, monitoring, and inspection

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) are required. Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with personnel of all backgrounds.

  • Strong organizational skills required.
