Engineering and Engineering Services Job Summary:CF Industries is the world's largest producer of ammonia and a leading global manufacturer of hydrogen and nitrogen products. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the construction of a state-of-the-art, large-scale facility dedicated to producing low-carbon ammonia. This industry-transforming plant is being built from the ground up, utilizing the latest ATR technology combined with carbon capture and sequestration (CCS). This advanced technology is expected to reduce emissions from the ammonia production process by more than 90% compared to conventional plants without CCS. While we are not the first company to build a plant with ATR technology, this will be the largest of its kind.

Position Overview:
The role of this position is to provide technical leadership and engineering support for the design and implementation of instrumentation, electrical, and control systems at the Blue Point site. Primary focus is on instrumentation and control systems; however job duties will also require electrical system and power distribution support. The successful candidate will be mostly self-directed and require minimal supervision while possessing technical expertise in the areas of field measurement instruments with HART technology, distributed control systems (DCS), safety instrumented systems (SIS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), process and CEMS analyzers, motor control circuits, and electrical power distribution systems. II. Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example and coach safety to others; supporting project safety initiatives.

  • Work within a team environment that includes Project, Process, Mechanical, Civil, Rotating Equipment, and PSM engineers.

  • Provide technical oversight and coordination of Engineering contractors to ensure the instrumentation, electrical, and control system designs comply with project specifications and all relevant industry standards and codes.

  • Review, comment, and approve instrumentation, electrical, and control systems technical documentation from Engineering contractors. Technical documentation includes, but is not limited to, control system specifications and architecture, instrumentation specifications and data sheets, loop sheets, wiring diagrams, electrical equipment specifications and data sheets.

  • Participate in and help lead design review meetings, kick-off meetings, pre-inspection meetings, and equipment acceptance testing as needed.

  • Provide guidance and support to IE&C construction contractors to resolve field installation or construction issues during project execution.

  • Ensure contractor's work is compliant with project specifications and is properly documented.

  • Participate in plant start up, commissioning, and turnover.

  • Provide technical support and assistance to the DCS supervisor and IE&C maintenance technicians as needed.

  • Lead or participate in investigations involving instrumentation, electrical, or control system incidents during all phases of the project. Ensure follow-up recommendations are implemented.

  • Assist in the development of programs such as SOP's, PM, and PdM for instrumentation, electrical, and control systems.

  • Help develop and Coordinate QA/QC program for Instrument and Electrical discipline for equipment procurement and field installation/construction activities.

  • Provide Subject Matter Expert advice for HAZOP and LOPA studies along with follow-up SRS specification development and ExSILentia calculation support and reviews.

Participate in developing training plans and their successful execution in all plant areas for the I/E technician team

Troubleshoot plant control issues through tuning and implementation of basic and advanced control strategies.

Maintain/develop technical specifications and datasheets for existing/new instrumentation installations.

Support the tracking and reporting of project performance metrics.

  • Play an integral role in the development and implementation of DCS Risk Management, DCS Security Administration, DCS Security Event Response, DCS Asset Management, DCS Backup and Recovery, DCS Alarm Management and DCS Management of Change Procedures.

IV. Incumbent Attributes:

Education: BS/BA in related field or equivalent experience typically required to complete all essential job functions. Preferred: BS in Electrical Engineering or Control and Instrumentation Engineering from an ABET accredited university.

Years of experience: at least 8 years of related professional experience is typically required to complete all essential job functions.

  • Preferred: Some combination of operations/engineering at CF (or a comparable chemical manufacturing company or an appropriate engineering and technology services provider).

  • Preferred: Five or more years of in-plant engineering experience with instrumentation, electrical, and control systems within a plant project, maintenance, or engineering department.

  • Preferred: Professional Engineering License

  • Knowledge of industrial codes and standards (API, NFPA, IEEE, ISA, ANSI, OSHA, State)

  • Experienced with CEMS analyzer requirements

  • Familiar with process industry functional safety engineering related to safety instrumented systems

  • Ability and willingness to collect field data, and otherwise work in an operating chemical facility environment

  • Ability to work alternative shifts/schedules to support 24 hour/7 days per week operations during process unit erection, commissioning, startups, shutdowns, upsets, equipment inspections, and turnarounds.

  • Must be able to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC)

  • Ability to travel globally as required to support project engineering, detailed design, and execution, including instrumentation, electrical, and control system acceptance testing.

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) are required. Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with personnel of all backgrounds.
