Summary Responsible for overseeing the planning, marketing and coordination, as well as developing marketing and promotional strategies for special events and activities of the Landmark Museum and Heritage Crossing facilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Coordinate with Landmark Society to enhance public use of the Landmark Museum and Heritage Crossing facilities. Provide public education of Garland's history through group presentations, publications and websites. Develop relationships within the community to assist with marketing and promotion of facilities. Oversee group visits and school field trips to Landmark Museum and Heritage Crossing facilities. Ensure continuous upkeep and maintenance of Heritage Crossing facilities. Plan, promote and host events that promote Garland's heritage and downtown areas. Coordinate in conjunction with the Garland Downtown Business Association to involve Heritage Crossing in downtown events as well as all heritage events. Oversee business operations for heritage related special events including permits, preparation of equipment and facilities, and coordination of workers. Assist with the administration of the Heritage Crossing budget. Hire, train, schedule and oversee staff for operations and events. Develop, plan and implement goals and objectives. Participate in related professional organizations and committees as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Preferred Qualifications Education/ Experience:
Bachelors degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications Business Management 2-4 years of leadership or supervisory experience in Event Management or Historical Education
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of principles and techniques used in planning, coordinating and servicing a variety of historic and educational events Comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices in marketing and promoting community programs and events Skill in effective oral and written communications Skill in resolving employee and patron complaints and concerns Advanced Skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), CMS and Adobe Creative Suite Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with all levels of management, City officials, vendors, fellow employees and citizens
Licenses and Certifications
Valid Class C Texas driver's license First Aid, CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and AED (automated external defibrillator) certification
Physical Requirements / Work Environment The incumbent works in an event center environment; frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Occasional outside work and other physical labor such as standing, walking, bending/stooping, kneeling, crawling through confined spaces, climbing a 20 foot ladder and lifting or carrying a maximum of 50 lbs.
