  • 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Hybrid (Chicago, IL)

Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $73920 - $95495.4. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Are you passionate about Product and Custom Solutions? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Switching Solutions function. As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.

S&C is the specialist in high-voltage switching, protection and control, providing products for the electric power industry since 1911. The Custom Engineering Pad Mount Gear (PMG) group provides engineering services to design customized PMG to meet specific customer needs. This position is for a team-oriented, entry level mechanical engineer with interest in manufacturing and product development. This position reports to the Manager-Custom Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design of critical high voltage mechanical systems based on a customer specification.
  • Perform design analysis that will streamline design process and producibility for electromechanical components.
  • Providing high quality engineering support for internal and external customers.
  • Participate in problem solving activities using 4-Step Problem Solving methodology.
  • Involve in generating ideas for consolidation of electromechanical components.
  • Presentation of significant findings, orally and in writing, to senior management and engineers throughout the company.

What you'll Need To Succeed:

Job Requirements (To select this job at a minimum you must have the following):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience modelling using 3D CAD software.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Desire to work hands-on in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to operate successfully both independently or as part of a larger engineering team.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, tolerance analysis, the application of GD&T, FEAs and FMEAs are a plus.

  • Standing: Continuously required to sit for work
  • Walking: Frequently walking throughout the facility
  • Carrying: Occasional carrying of light objects
  • Pushing: Infrequent pushing of objects
  • Observation/Eyesight: Frequently required to observe details at close range including depth perception, peripheral vision and the ability to differentiate between colors
  • Environment: Standard office
