Under the supervision of the Economic Empowerment Manager, the Digital Inclusion Specialist will work together with the larger Economic Empowerment Team and San Jose staff through an integrated approach to help refugees thrive financially in the U.S. The Digital Inclusion (DI) Program provides refugee clients with assistance to develop digital skills as a pathway to self-sufficiency by attaining job-ready digital skills, access to broadband service, and access to digital devices. These skills can help propel clients into the future current digital age. With the assistance of the Digital Inclusion Specialist participants will gain digital literacy skills such as learning how to apply for benefits, complete employment applications online, and participate in Telehealth visits with medical providers. Families with tech tools and knowledge will be more resilient and better prepared to cope and thrive. Major Responsibilities:
*Provide digital literacy training and broadband support services as the pathway to economic growth and empowerment for immigrants, refugees and the community at large.
*Administer an initial client digital literacy skills assessment and intake.
*Monitor class participation, maintain attendance records, collaborate with direct service staff associated with participating clients and keep track of outcomes.
*Utilize digital platforms for remote service delivery for advanced skills or flexible learning.
*Ensure clients have access to low-cost broadband service and support their internet adoptions processes.
*Develop standard operating procedures for digital programming.
*Consult with Senior Digital Inclusion Specialist and other program staff to incorporate standard methodologies and draft modifications to existing curriculum for the delivery of high-quality workshops and widen clients' access to digital devices and free/affordable internet connectivity.
*Provide office hours that support the "open computer lab" hours for clients to drop-in and get support with their digital skills development and access to devices.
*Create a series of foundational and advanced trainings for IRC staff and volunteers to maximize use of Zoom, DocuSign, Microsoft TEAMS and Forms, Box as well as new learning management platforms.
*Advise on best methods to integrate digital literacy into existing workflows, considering program schedules.
*Provide digital literacy workshops off-site by developing partnerships with other CBOs to allow on-site training.
*Participate in IRC Communities of Practice, staff meetings, and other networking/learning opportunities in the network.
*Provide other workshops within the Economic Empowerment Department that incorporate digital literacy skills
*Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
*Bachelor's Degree and/or other formal training in adult education, curriculum development or other related field, strongly preferred.
*1+ years' relevant work experience providing digital training to adult including experience with cross cultural communication and training/teaching non-native speakers of English.
*Experience with developing digital literacy trainings, required
*Extensive knowledge of Zoom, DocuSign, Microsoft TEAMS and Forms, Outlook and Box, required
*Project management and implementation experience preferred; ability to lead change and work across programs and personnel with competing priorities
*Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment
*Experience working with adult English language learners from a variety of cultural and linguistic groups; prior experience with refugee populations desired
*Experience designing curriculum, effective workflows, and digital service delivery, required
*Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in English
*Strong command of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel
*Knowledge of a refugee language (Farsi, Dari, Tigrigna, or Spanish) highly desirable.
Work Environment:
*A combination of the standard office environment, remote work, and 'field' time within the service delivery area to perform the outlined responsibilities.
*May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
