Basic Function

As a member of the LyondellBasell Corpus Christi (CCO) Leadership Team you will provide leadership to the technical organization and other departments within the site. You will lead this group to develop strategic plans, annual goals, drive gap closure efforts, and ensure alignment of all activities with CCO, global manufacturing and company strategic plan. You will participate on corporate teams to help champion and implement corporate level strategic initiatives and goals. You will provide leadership, development, and coaching to direct reports and support staff to achieve business results, create value, and optimize the site. This position manages the Process Engineering, Control Systems, Process Safety and Laboratory functions within the Technical Organization. This position reports to the CCO Site Manager.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Delivers GoalZERO HSE performance through strong leadership, leading by example, employee/contractor involvement and management systems
  • Ability to become process expert on Olefins and Aromatics production units and drive technical expertise and understanding across facility
  • Drive for excellence in all areas of Process Safety including Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Operational Excellence (OE)
  • Drive site compliance with all internal and regulatory process safety and Responsible Care standards, including OSHA 1910.119, ACC, and corporate process safety standards
  • Ensures adherence to company management systems supporting process safety
  • Participates, leads, and implements local, regional, and corporate initiatives
  • Sets clear performance expectations, coaching and mentoring of technical personnel
  • Understands the importance and appropriate utilization of teams and teamwork in achieving business objectives; foster teamwork and collaboration; demonstrate ability to mold and build team spirit, working relationships, and decision-making processes required in a dynamic and competitive business environment
  • Ensures corporate standards, Code of Conduct, and all other LyondellBasell policies are consistently adhered to and administered within the technical organization
  • Prepares and manages the technical budget in a cost efficient and responsible way that meets the goals of your and the site
  • Participates actively with the business team to create, plan, organize and execute short- and long-range objectives to ensure continued site and business alignment, efficiency, and effectiveness
  • Inputs and participates in the development of a Long-Range Capital plan for the site
  • Benchmarks and develops a gaps closure plan to drive the units to "Best Achievable" performance
  • Works collaboratively with the other functions at the site to identify integration opportunities and implement these initiatives within your departments
  • Supports and provides technical expertise to sustainability and low carbon solutions for the site.
  • Ensures the CCO Value Enhancement Program (VEP) is kept evergreen and supports the WAVE tool management for tracking and accounting
  • Supports development of variable cost budget for the site and material balance requirements
  • Leads and/or engage in efforts to build a strong LyondellBasell brand through community service


Min. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field (Chemical Engineer preferred) with 7+ years of chemical plant or refinery operations experience, or equivalent education and/or experience in chemical or refinery industry.

Previous supervisory and/or leadership experience preferred.

Knowledge of and experience with HSE, operating, maintenance, and engineering processes and procedures, business fundamentals, and shared services role in manufacturing

Strong people and organizational leadership acumen demonstrated through previous experience within manufacturing and across the organization.

Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to interface with all organizational levels within the company
