Resolver Design Engineer
The Resolver
Design Engineer creates conceptual designs, performs electromechanical analyses,
develops detailed designs, leads cross functional teams, supports product prototype
and pilot build fabrication and testing, participates in reviews with customers,
and provides customer support. The successful candidate must have design and
test experience with resolvers, electric motors, actuators, mechanisms, and electromagnetic
design/analysis software. The Resolver Design Engineer is a product engineering
role supporting the portfolio of motion control products while also driving the
development of new products. A blend of hardware excitement with simulation
background is ideal for this role, with design optimization and hardware
debugging both key to success.
Who are we?
Founded in 1849, Ducommun is the oldest company in California. Starting as a hardware supply store during the California Gold Rush and eventually assisted in the birth of the aerospace industry in Southern California by providing aircraft aluminum to early aerospace pioneers like Lindbergh, Douglas and Lockheed.
Today Ducommun is a global provider of innovative manufacturing solutions for customers in the aerospace, defense and industrial markets. We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications.
Our Facility in Carson, CA is our Engineered Products Group location, which houses our Human Machine Interface, Motion Control Device, Radiofrequency Departments.

- Supports
our portfolio of high performance resolvers and motors through initiating nonconformance
investigation, including root cause and corrective action closure, driving
continuous improvement and quality.
- Works
directly with customers to capture requirements, translating these
requirements into formal documents as needed and negotiating difficult
specifications items based on risk assessment.
- Serves
as the Lead Engineer on new product development (NPD) programs, evaluating
technical risk and driving action on risk burn-down plans.
- Helps
define and drive research and development programs, using advanced
experience and understanding of motors and resolvers to recommend product
improvements and new innovations.
- Uses
simulation background to investigate product anomalies and to optimize
design of new products.
- Works with cross functional teams and suppliers to ensure
designs and components meet technical requirements.
