Role Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Accountant, Fixed Assets to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our fixed asset accounting. You will be responsible for overseeing accounting for facility-related fixed assets, including journal entries, reconciliations, process improvements, and audits. You'll partner with operations and finance teams to enhance fixed asset processes and controls, directly supporting Rivian's manufacturing and sustainability goals.

  • Support Operational Excellence: Collaborate with Facilities and Finance to improve fixed asset governance and support Rivian's manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Act as subject matter expert for construction and facility-related fixed asset accounting, including compliance with ASC 360 (Property, Plant & Equipment).

  • Review capital projects and fixed asset purchase requests for proper classification and compliance.

  • Monitor construction in progress (CIP) for accurate status tracking and timely capitalizations.

  • Record and reconcile monthly asset transactions, including additions, disposals, transfers, depreciation, and accruals.

  • Reconcile fixed asset subledger to general ledger and prepare rollforwards.

  • Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with audit documentation standards.

  • Partner with business units to understand project results and ensure alignment across teams.

  • Assist with audit, tax, and government grant compliance requests.

  • Occasionally travel to perform on-site audits and verify physical asset classification.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with an emphasis in Accounting.

  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with direct experience in fixed asset and facility accounting preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, especially ASC 360.

  • High proficiency in Excel and ERP/MRP systems; SAP experience preferred.

  • Ability to analyze and communicate financial data to business stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

  • Proactive, independent thinker focused on continuous improvement.

  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical mindset.

  • Willingness to travel for on-site asset verification.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA preferred but not required.

  • Experience in manufacturing or facility operations.

  • Familiarity with government grant compliance and reporting.

  • Experience working in a hyper-growth or automotive environment.

  • Ability to influence decision-making through financial storytelling.
