DESCRIPTION
The Subject Matter Expert IV (SME IV) will serve as the principal advisor providing expert-level guidance in support equipment planning and product support management for the Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) lifecycle. This role demands a highly accomplished professional with extensive experience in engineering, technical, or business management, and a demonstrated ability to lead strategic initiatives for complex systems. The SME IV will drive efforts to optimize equipment sustainment, develop advanced product support strategies, and ensure operational excellence for UAS systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support Equipment:
- Strategic Equipment Planning: Lead efforts to identify, plan, and develop documentation to resource and acquire support equipment, including common, mobile, fixed, and specialized equipment required to sustain UAS operations and maintenance throughout the lifecycle.
- Validation and Verification Leadership: Oversee activities such as Support Equipment Requirements Document (SERD) reviews, design reviews, logistics demonstrations, and testing to ensure equipment readiness and compliance.
- Standardization and Optimization: Provide expert analysis and recommendations to reduce and eliminate unnecessary tools and support, implement standardization, and determine sustainment requirements for equipment throughout the UAS lifecycle.
- Fielding Support Equipment: Develop strategic plans and identify requirements necessary for fielding support equipment to the Warfighter.
Product Support Management:
- Advanced Product Support Strategies: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive product support strategies for UAS systems, ensuring alignment with operational goals and cost-effectiveness.
- Predictive Analysis and Modeling: Utilize advanced predictive analyses and modeling tools to develop courses of action (COAs) for improving material availability, reliability, operational availability rates, and reducing operation and sustainment costs.
- Cost Analysis Leadership: Conduct detailed cost-benefit analyses and validate product support strategies, including life-cycle cost estimates and business case analyses (BCAs).
- Performance Optimization: Analyze logistics information to adjust performance requirements and resource allocations across product support integrators and providers to optimize UAS product support strategies.
- Documentation Development: Lead the development and maintenance of logistics-related statutory and regulatory program documentation, including LCSP, Core Logistics Determination Estimate, Independent Logistics Assessment, and Preservation and Storage of Unique Tooling Plan.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, COMPETENCIES:
- 15+ years of experience in support equipment planning, product support management, and lifecycle sustainment for complex systems.
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in predictive analysis, modeling tools, and cost-benefit analysis.
- Advanced knowledge of logistics systems, equipment sustainment, and lifecycle management.
Additional Requirements:
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead and collaborate in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.
- In-depth knowledge of Federal, DoD, and Army regulations related to logistics and product support management.
SECURITY CLEARANCE:
- Active SECRET clearance required.
EDUCATION:
- Advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate) in a technical, business, or management area; OR Bachelor's degree in an engineering or technical field.
