Position Summary
The Assistant Coach plays a supportive but vital role in the success of the Clark College Women's Soccer program. This position is best suited for someone who is eager to grow in the coaching profession, values clear communication, and understands the importance of consistent alignment with the Head Coach's philosophy and expectations. The Assistant Coach will focus heavily on training execution, player support, logistics, and behind-the-scenes operations, while also serving as an additional touchpoint for student-athletes.


Position Responsibilities

Coaching & Player Support:

  • Assist in daily training sessions with an emphasis on effort, energy, and execution of the Head Coach's vision.
  • Serve as a positional coach where needed and provide feedback to players within the boundaries of the program's style of play.
  • Offer on-field support with technical drills, small-sided games, and match preparation.
  • Monitor and reinforce cultural standards, player behavior, and team expectations.
  • Support game-day operations, including warm-ups, bench management, etc.
Recruiting & Outreach:
  • Support the staff in identifying prospective student-athletes and initial outreach as needed.
  • Represent Clark College positively during clinics, ID camps, and recruiting events.
  • Ensure communication with recruits reflects the values and culture of the program.
  • Stay updated on NWAC recruiting regulations and ensure full compliance.
Cultural Alignment & Communication:
  • Help sustain a unified and transparent message from the coaching staff to the players.
  • Prioritize relationship-building with student-athletes while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Serve as a connector-not a divider-between players and the coaching staff.
  • Be available to support team conflict resolution and player development conversations as directed by the Head Coach.
Program & Administrative Support:
  • Assist in the coordination and execution of team travel, logistics, and scheduling.
  • Support the planning and execution of team fundraising, community outreach, and promotional events.
  • Contribute to summer camps, ID camps, and clinics to strengthen community engagement and program visibility.
  • Work with athletic department staff to support student-athlete academic progress, eligibility compliance, and holistic development.
  • Represent the program and Clark College positively in the community and professional settings.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Coaching or playing experience at the collegiate, high school, or club level.
  • Strong understanding of soccer fundamentals and team operations.
  • Ability to follow direction and contribute to a collaborative staff environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel for events.
  • Red Cross Standard First Aid Certification/CPR (or ability to obtain upon hire).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in video analysis and performance evaluation tools.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute successful recruiting strategies.
  • Experience supporting or running training sessions.
  • Familiarity with NWAC rules and regulations.

  • Position Type: Part-Time Coaching Position
  • Stipend:$4,200 (paid during the season, Aug 1 - Nov 31)
  • Start Date: August 1
  • Evaluation: Performance will be assessed annually.
