Job Overview:

The Social Worker will support the KidsFit obesity treatment program at both the NBIMC Pediatric Health Center and the Pediatric Specialty Center at Cooperman Barnabas - West Orange. This person will be responsible for providing comprehensive psychosocial support for pediatric patients and their families with a particular focus on patients at risk for pediatric obesity. This Role involves assessing family needs, offering targeted counseling, resource navigation and coordinating with interdisciplinary healthcare team to address the social and psychosocial factors of obesity and the associated comorbidities.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited graduate school of social work with an MSW master's in social work degree.
  • State licensure is required by the NJ State board of Social Work Examiners.
  • Licensed clinical social worker LCSW or licensed social worker LSW.
  • One- or two years experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides direct clinical social work services to patients and their families
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of pediatric patients and their families to identify emotional, social and environmental factors related to pediatric obesity and the associated comorbidities,
  • Provide individual and family counseling to address issues such as self-esteem, stress management and behavior change,
  • Assist families in accessing community resources such as mental health services, financial aid and educational programs to overcome barriers to treatment and ensure optimal health outcomes,
  • EMR documentation of assessments, interventions and outcomes in compliance with clinical regulatory standards,
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to integrate social work into the pediatric care plan,
  • Participate in the clinical and group sessions of the KidsFit pediatric obesity treatment program,
