The HVAC Mechanic performs technical trades work to maintain heating, ventilating and air conditioning and/or refrigeration equipment as part of the services provided by the facilities management department to maintain University buildings. They are responsible for all repairs/maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems and components up to DDC / energy management panels (including, but not limited to, all work associated with pneumatic thermostats, calibrating; pneumatic actuators, main air distribution lines; branch air distribution lines; all pneumatic end devices, compressors, dryers, filters, and PRV stations). Additional responsibilities include:
Work Interactions Depending upon the area assigned, this position reports directly to the Mechanical Shop Supervisor or one of the Zone Managers or to the Preventive Maintenance Manager along with tradesmen and trades helpers. The work of the incumbents provides a direct service to the department to ensure a comfortable, safe, and clean environment in which the University community can live, learn, and work.
