About the Role:
As a senior information technology (IT) project Manager within NYSTEC's information technology (IT) Project Management Office, your role will lead IT projects, support governance efforts, and mentor project managers. The senior IT project manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects align with business objectives, adhere to compliance standards, and follow the industry's best practices. To be successful in this role, you must have developed project management expertise, leadership skills, and experience in structured PMO environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage IT infrastructure, software implementation, and modernization projects from initiation to completion.
* Define and oversee project scope, objectives, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
* Develop and maintain detailed project work plans, schedules, and risk management strategies.
* Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to ensure alignment of project goals and deliverables.
* Monitor project performance and adjust plans as necessary to ensure on-time and within budget delivery.
* Track and resolve project risks, issues, and dependencies proactively.
* Support and enforce PMO governance frameworks, methodologies, and standards.
* Ensure projects comply with CMMI, SOX, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
* Maintain project documentation, including status reports, risk logs, change management records, and stakeholder updates.
* Contribute to ongoing PMO process improvements and compliance initiatives.
* Provide guidance and mentorship to project managers and other team members.
* Assist in developing training programs and best practice resources for IT project management.
* Share knowledge on Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid project management methodologies, helping teams improve efficiency and effectiveness.
* Develop and execute a project communication plan, ensuring transparency with stakeholders.
* Facilitate project meetings, status updates, and presentations for executives and business teams.
* Document and communicate key project decisions, risks, and action items.

About you:

Required Qualifications


  • Possess strong computer skills, including experience using Microsoft applications (e.g., Project, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, SharePoint) or equivalent.

  • Understands NYSTEC's mission, brand mindsets, and core values. Able to put the NYSTEC behaviors into practice.

  • Proficiency in project management tools (JIRA, Microsoft Project, etc.).

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • An ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with IT infrastructure, cloud technologies, or enterprise software implementation.

  • Knowledge of CMMI, SOX, ITIL, COBIT, and other governance frameworks.

  • Familiarity with Fresh service or other IT service management (ITSM) platforms.

  • PMP, PMI, or ITIL certification required.


Education and Experience


  • A bachelor's degree in information technology, business administration, or a related field with eight years of IT project management experience, including managing complex, cross-functional projects as well as working in structured PMO environments with project governance responsibilities. An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and professional experience will be considered



The target base salary for this position is $79,000 - $109,000 per year. When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including skill set, experience, location, and job-related qualifications.
