About the McGrath Outpatient Pavilion: Located in Hillcrest, the McGrath Outpatient Pavilion is a state-of-the-art, 250,000-square-foot medical facility designed to meet the growing healthcare needs of our region. Spanning six floors, this advanced facility is home to key clinical programs and offers specialized diagnostic, treatment, and surgical services. With a strong emphasis on cancer care, we are committed to delivering world-class medical services in a patient-centered environment.

DESCRIPTION

The Patient Access Liaison handles all scheduling and preparation including insurance verification, record collection and diagnosis triage for all referrals to Radiation Oncology, maintains data bases for reporting and scheduling/acts as mentor to others on team in department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Six (6) years healthcare, clinical, or administrative experience/education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree plus two (2) or more years in healthcare, clinical, or administrative roles.

  • Familiarity of clinic medical billing practices including coding, billing systems and documentation requirements. Knowledge of ambulatory care clinic practice management including patient care workflows and processes. Demonstrated understanding of medical terminology and clinical knowledge of clinic practice area.

  • Working knowledge of medical center policies and procedures and related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments.

  • Strong communication skills; includes verbal, written and active listening. Ability to clearly and concisely communicate clinic rules and regulations.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with diverse staff and patients. Demonstrated ability to develop working relationships within clinical team.

  • Proven organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks. Takes initiative. Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage several projects simultaneously, respond rapidly to conflicting priorities, and handle tasks with high degree of accuracy.

  • Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in word processing and spreadsheet software. Skills in data management. Ability to use relevant healthcare and clinic operations information technology, including billing systems and medical record documentation.

  • Data analysis, research, and reporting skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience and proven success in scheduling in EPIC, clinic medical billing practices including coding, billing systems and documentation requirements.

  • Knowledge of ambulatory care clinic practice management including patient care workflows and processes.

  • Demonstrated understanding of medical terminology and clinical knowledge of clinic practice area.

  • Three (3) years of related experience/training.

  • Experience working in Radiation Oncology

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • This position will initially train in La Jolla.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $63,099 - $91,914 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $30.22 - $44.02

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
