This position serves in a leadership role providing strategic direction, vision, and guidance in the integration of the Human Resource strategies, operations, and services to advance and align strategy and structure with talent to achieve organizational goals. This role serves as a key trusted advisor to the assigned entity's executive leadership team by aligning the people strategy with the business objectives while driving engagement and retention. The HR Business partner will be responsible for understanding the current and future people related issues and challenges of the organization and collaborating with other human resources functional areas to develop and deliver solutions.

I. Major Responsibilities:

1. Translates business strategy and organizational needs into contemporary organizational performance solutions. (30%)
2. Collaborates with leaders in understanding and shaping business requirements and translating those into specific human resource actions and initiatives. (10%)
3. Participates in strategic discussions with key internal and external partners and develop innovative and forward looking people related initiatives. (10%)
4. Collaborates with the Director, HR Strategic programs, and HR Centers of Expertise (COE) to monitor external environment and define future workforce requirements as well as identifying and articulating assigned entity's Human Resources needs to stakeholders and develop programs and processes in ways that bring value to the business.(10%)
5. Ensures appropriate Human Resource information is provided to business leaders which will support the successful alignment of Human Resource operations, programs, and services across the system.(10%)
6. Accountable for developing, fostering, and maintaining an effective Human Resource relationship with assigned business leaders. (10%)
7. Determines appropriate measures/metrics needed to provide on-going assessment of change management and process/performance improvement in determining effectiveness on overall business impact.(10%)
8. Mentors and coaches leaders by providing performance assessment, coaching, guidance and feedback on professional development and quality performance. (5%)
9. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws/regulations; the UMass Memorial Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior. (5%)
10. In addition to the above, standard management level responsibilities may include directing and supervising assigned personnel, conducting performance appraisals, scheduling, and training. Makes decisions on hiring, transfers, firing, budget, and departmental goals. Carries out entity and system level strategy, fosters a culture of continuous improvement, and promotes the standards of respect. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies and all health and safety programs.
11. All other duties as assigned.

II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:

Required:
1. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field.
Preferred:
1. Advanced degree (MBA or MA) in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

Experience/Skill:
Required:
1. Minimum 5 to 7 years in defining strategy, change management, leading execution, and tracking success measurements, preferably in healthcare.
2. Strong understanding of organizational structure, business operations, financial impact/analysis.
3. Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills to understand best practices, translate them into viable solutions, create value propositions, metrics and practices and to organize and prioritize multiple projects and requests.
4. Exceptional interpersonal, consultative and relationship building skills to develop and utilize productive collaborative partnerships with leaders across the organization. Extremely high level of diplomacy and tact are required. Ability to read the subtle nuances of situation and react/plan accordingly.
5. Ability to successfully influence and negotiate within all levels of the organization, and to successfully build relationships and teams to align strategies and achieve business results.
6. Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of UMass Memorial.

Preferred:
1. Knowledge of and experience in healthcare.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
