JOB SUMMARY:
As a Senior Electrical Engineer within the Research and Development department, you will play a key role in both the design and development of new medical devices as well as the support of existing products. This is a highly technical and hands-on position involving the full lifecycle of electronic product development. You will be responsible for schematic capture, PCB layout or physical design, component selection, testing, debugging/troubleshooting down to the component level, and driving your design through Verification and Validation into full production.
In this role, you will develop and promote best practices in electrical engineering design and support cross-functional collaboration with teams in Production, Service, Sales, Regulatory, and Supply Chain Management. You will also be responsible for new technology development, feasibility studies, and other R&D tasks assigned by the Electrical Engineer Manager and VP of R&D.
As a Key Technical Contributor, you will apply your expertise across embedded processor systems, digital design, analog and high-voltage design, mixed-signal systems, programmable logic, regulatory testing support, and vendor management. Your contributions will be instrumental in both new product innovation and legacy product improvement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Design and Develop Electronic Systems: Create and implement electronic systems including schematic capture, PCB layout, and prototyping. Perform hands-on design and development of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits for medical devices.
  • Embedded Software & Firmware Development: Write and maintain embedded firmware and control software to support device functionality, system control, and product integration.
  • Prototype Construction and Testing: Build, test, and troubleshoot prototypes to validate design performance, ensuring alignment with IEC60601-1 4th edition safety and compliance standards.
  • Product Validation and Verification: Execute comprehensive product verification and validation activities in accordance with medical device regulatory standards, ensuring product readiness for full-scale production.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Prepare, review, and maintain electrical engineering documentation, design files, and work instructions compliant with ISO13485 and internal quality systems.
  • Cross-Functional Technical Development: Translate marketing and sales requirements into engineering specifications and technical solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, QA/RA, and manufacturing to support product development and enhancements.
  • Vendor and Supply Chain Coordination: Manage vendor relationships, request and evaluate quotes, and oversee component sourcing and prototype schedules to meet project timelines and budget requirements.
  • Engineering Process Leadership: Champion and enforce electrical engineering best practices, standardization, and continuous improvement throughout the product development lifecycle.

Basic Qualifications:
Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Preferred, Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering
