Director of Academic Affairs

The Director of Academic Affairs supports the Office of the Provost in assuring effective execution of key academic projects and initiatives that impact teaching and learning, academic operations, and the academic strategy. This position collaborates heavily with the members of the Academic Senior Leadership and the leadership across APUS to coordinate the people and resources needed to meet project goals and deadlines. In addition to their work with the Academic Senior Leadership team, the Director has a dotted line to provide support and oversight, as requested, to the School Administrative Assistants.
Responsibilities:
Coordinating Project and Initiatives
- Assists the Provost with executing long-term and short-term projects and initiatives, by collaborating with leaders from Academics and across the University to coordinate the people and resources needed to meet goals and deadlines.
- Collaborates with the Enterprise Project Manager to ensure the academic leadership and their departments effectively execute on the academic strategy to meet OKRs.
- Coordinates across Academics to ensures completion of deliverables following each Academic Senior Leadership meeting.
Supporting the Office of the Provost
- Serves as the primary Academic point of contact for APUS and APEI Departments to streamline communications and encourage cross-collaboration.
- Is the named Provost designee for review and approval of routine requests of the Office of the Provost
- Ensures new/updated policies are effectively communicated to all stakeholders and properly documented in the appropriate locations, upon final approval and implementation green light from Provost Council.
- Supports the Provost in development of presentations for internal and external audiences.
- In collaboration with the Academic Analyst/Coordinator, develops written communications from the Office of the Provost.
- Support the Provost with Board slide development and editing
- Manages the Executive Assistant to the Provost and the Academic Programs and Initiatives Coordinator to ensure effective operations of the Office of the Provost
- Manages dotted line oversight of the School Administrative Assistants to ensure alignment in process and work product across Schools.
Organizing Meetings and Events
- In collaboration with the Executive Assistant to the Provost, establishes schedule and coordinates presenters and agendas for routine Academic meetings led by the Provost (e.g., Fireside Chats, Provost's Council, Academic Senior Leadership, Academic Town Hall etc.)
- Organizes ad hoc Provost Committees to ensure that the voice of the faculty and academic staff are regularly included in Academic decision making.
- Closely collaborates with Student Affairs, representing Academics in the development and execution of all events associated with Commencement Weekend.
- Organizes all aspects of the annual ACDC meeting including agenda, presentation preparation with presenters, hotel accommodations, meals, etc.
- Works with Deans and Associate Provosts to establish agenda for monthly ACDC meeting.
- Organizes and supports other meetings and events hosted by Academics
- Other Duties as Assigned.

- Proficiency in excel (database management)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Powerpoint and presentation development/design
- Ability to use project management digital tools.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree required
