Job Summary

International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF), Memphis Plant has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join our team.

The Engineering Manager is responsible for helping set the strategic direction for the Memphis plants Manufacturing Technology, Process Control and Reliability programs. Also, the role supports the IT and capital teams' direction. This role is part of the Site Leadership team. This role is accountable for supporting the plants technology needs to meet the plants metrics, cost, quality, production volume, and continuous improvement targets. Promotes a strong commitment to all core values, food safety, and operating culture for the site. The incumbent must be able to interact effectively with business / corporate leadership, MT corporate leadership and capital corporate leadership.

JOB DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Responsible for setting the strategic direction for the Manufacturing technology in the plant. (MT, Process Control, Capital)
  • Use six sigma or other defect elimination tools and lean tools to interpret data and provides analysis for trends to support hypothesis and/or find solutions.
  • PSM Lead and Management of the Change Element Lead.
  • Set expectations and hold employees accountable for Core Value compliance (SHE, PSM, Ethics & Respect for People) and model the appropriate behavior.
  • Responsible for setting direction and implementing key initiatives in support of key business objectives.
  • Proactively collaborate with other site leaders on key topics related to the overall success of the plant.
  • Lead continuous learning and development efforts to ensure the area is energized and performing at peak levels.
  • Responsible for the performance management process of direct and indirect subordinate employees (goal setting, performance measurement, recognition, feedback, coaching & counseling).
  • Establish effective communications systems within the site while sharing key technical and other information to drive success of the facility.
  • Understand, support and communicate plant and company strategic initiatives.
  • Other duties that may be required due to dynamic changes in business focus.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical) or related technical field.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and has demonstrated performance as a member of successful teams.
  • Previous responsibility in managing/supporting budgets and understanding fixed/variable cost.
  • A minimum of (20) years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • This would include a deep understanding of process theory and equipment utilization.
  • Experience with safety processes and systems including safety improvement processes, audits and developing safe behaviors.
  • Must be able to collect and analyze data, identify solutions, assess risk factors, and make sound business decisions.
  • Effectively utilizes Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and other defect elimination techniques Actively supports the elements of Process Safety Management (PSM) Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must effectively communicate both inside and outside the plant organization.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft applications (WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, etc.) and/or be able to learn other computer systems/databases.
  • Ideally someone from the Food or Chemical Manufacturing industries.
