Overview

Medical Assistant Program Director

The Program Director Medical Assistant is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of the program. This role involves leading faculty, managing curriculum, maintaining accreditation standards, and fostering student success. This role will demonstrate leadership, collaboration, and expertise in medical assisting education.

Responsibilities

Principal Accountabilities & Deliverables

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate program policies, procedures, and goals to support student success
  • Supervise and mentor faculty, promoting professional development and instructional excellence
  • Coordinate class schedules, faculty assignments, and program activities to align with institutional needs
  • Maintain compliance with accreditation, certification, and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with institutional leadership to enhance program offerings and ensure continuous improvement
  • Design, update, and enhance curriculum to meet industry standards and accreditation guidelines
  • Integrate hands-on training and real-world applications into coursework
  • Assess student learning outcomes and adjust instructional strategies as needed
  • Partner with faculty to implement innovative teaching methodologies and technology in the classroom
  • Advise and support students to promote retention, engagement, and career readiness
  • Develop strategies to improve student performance, including tutoring and mentorship initiatives
  • Address student concerns and provide guidance on academic and professional development
  • Assist with and attend graduation as requested
  • Teach classes as and when necessary and as permitted by any programmatic accreditor
  • Cultivate partnerships with healthcare providers to facilitate externships and employment opportunities
    • Engage with advisory boards, professional organizations, and industry leaders to align the program with workforce demands
  • Represent the institution at networking events, conferences, and accreditation meetings
  • Establish/maintain a high performance team of professional, motivated and engaged staff utilizing effective training, performance management and career-development activities while leading them to achieve established business results and performance metrics.
  • Recognizes and rewards employee contributions and achievements.

Qualifications

Licenses / Certifications

  • Licensure - Varies by state, campus location, course and accreditation and licensing requirements
  • Education - Varies by state, campus location, course and accreditation and licensing requirements
  • Experience - Varies by state, campus location, course and accreditation and licensing requirements

Education / Experience

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in phlebotomy, immunizations, venipuncture, injections, pharmacology, EKG, wound care, GYN procedures and vital signs (required)
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience with EHR/EMR (Electronic Health Records/Electronic Medical Records) and practice management systems (preferred)
  • Minimum of one (1) year of prior teaching experience (preferred)
  • Proficiency in dosage calculations (preferred)
  • Current knowledge of specific subject being taught

Skills

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in curriculum development and instructional design

  • Ability to effectively direct and evaluate student learning and lab performance

Work Environment

  • Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment when on site at assigned company location. Employees must be able to safely ambulate when on company premises.
  • This position is designated as:
    • Onsite; Work environments may include exposure to student learning environments with a variety of conditions. Employees must be able to follow all safety precautions including the use of personal-protective equipment. Employees must also be able to adhere to site-specific safety procedures.
