Description of Job


Provide and maintain electric service to campus buildings and surrounding areas, including the 13.2 kV electrical distribution systems, building electrical systems, life safety systems with back up, electric generators. Provide preventative maintenance and repairs as necessary to systems listed above, including inspections, operational testing and repairs.

Duties Include:
  • Full responsibility for inspection, operational testing and preventative maintenance of campus electrical systems, fire alarm systems, life safety systems, building emergency generators, and the documentation of the work performed.
  • Trouble shoot, repair and modification of existing campus electrical systems to keep operational the many different and varied campus electrical systems.
  • Provide electrical service for campus offices, labs, classrooms, student life areas, and dormitories including new construction as well as remodeled areas (building electrical distribution, lighting and associated controls, mechanical equipment, and campus 13.2kv distribution).
  • Installation of new electrical, fire alarm, life safety systems and other equipment.
  • Document the work performed on work orders and in log books to meet CSM requirements and the requirements of the Colorado State Electrical Board.
    • These activities require some computer skills including Microsoft Windows, Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Other duties as assigned. This position may be required to serve on the asbestos team, working on electrical equipment in areas that contain asbestos; if so, asbestos training and certification is needed.

Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience:
Current, valid licensure as a journeyman electrician from the Colorado Electrical Board (LICENSE INFORMATION MUST BE INCLUDED WITH APPLICATION FOR FULL CONSIDERATION)
