About the role

Based at our Lorton, VA facility, we seek a dedicated individual to be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a TTF Facility during an assigned shift. Successful candidate will supervise the personnel assigned to their shift, providing technical and safety training and directing their actions as necessary. The Shift Supervisor will routinely tour the plant, oversee personnel, and ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental limits, and permits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe working environment for all personnel by enforcing policies and procedures and ensuring safe work practices.
  • Approve requests for equipment removal from service, ensure proper tagging, issue safety permits according to plant procedures, and verify safe return to service in accordance with established LOTO procedures
  • Ensure compliance with environmental limits and permits.
  • Respond to emergencies such as injuries or accidents.
  • Direct and complete shift, daily, weekly, and monthly checks.
  • Maximize operational performance and troubleshoot plant operational issues.
  • Manage and train a motivated, cross-trained workforce.
  • Provide technical training and development for personnel.
  • Maintain administrative records of personnel.
  • In the event of emergencies or unusual operations, the Shift Supervisor will direct or personally perform the required operations or corrective actions, coordinating the activities of all personnel involved.
  • Direct personnel to address housekeeping issues.

Qualifications:

  • GED/ HS Diploma
  • 3-5 or more years of experience as a control room operator in thermal power or resource recovery plant operations.
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience in similar plant environment, preferred
  • General knowledge of Power Plant equipment and materials, operating procedure and standards to properly maintain and enforce cost effective, safe and efficient Facility Operations is desired.
  • Successful candidate must obtain a Provisional ASME Certification within 6 months and must obtain the full ASME Site Specific certification for Shift Supervisor within 1 year; the ideal candidate will already possess these qualifications.

  • Ability to develop and monitor plant procedures and technical instructions.

Physical Demands:

* Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb

* Ability to lift/carry 50lbs

* Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces

* Qualify to wear a full-face respirator

* Consistently work in various weather conditions

Shift Work:

* Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Rotating on a 5-2-2-5 schedule.
