Our Engineer Intern is a key part of theday to day operations. This position is responsible for managing a variety of process-related tasks connected to the Engineering department. Duties include but are not limited to chemical trials, operational improvements, data analysis, cost reduction and operational excellence related tasks. This part-time internship will report to the Technical Manager at Liberty Paper in Becker, MN and will begin in May 2025 through August 2025.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with engineers on various mill-wide projects
  • Gather data, input accurately into systems, maintain and update databases, ensure data integrity and quality.
  • Conduct chemical trials, monitor and analyze chemical reactions and outcomes, document findings and suggest improvements
  • Collect and interpret data, utilize statistical tools, prepare reports and presentations
  • Revise and update technical documents, ensure documentation reflects current standards and practices.
  • Water savings projects: Identify and implement initiatives to reduce water usage, monitor progress, and report on outcomes.
  • Waste reduction projects: Develop and execute strategies to minimize waste generation, track results, and communicate impacts.
  • Other duties, as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Pursuing an engineering degree, preferable in chemical engineering, or paper science

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Pursuing a paper science and engineering, or biosystems and bioproducts engineering degree
  • Strong computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office with an emphasis in Excel
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • High level of initiative and motivation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to share technical ideas and concepts with the public and non-technical personnel

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The starting base salary range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00 per hour. The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. We may pay above or below posted amount based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and/or certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses.
