Transportation Schematic Lead

RK&K is hiring a dynamic Transportation, Roadway Senior Project Delivery Leader to join our Austin team. This is an outstanding opportunity to help lead and grow a group of extremely talented engineers on current and upcoming highway planning, design, and design-build projects throughout Texas and our broader company portfolio of work.

Essential Function

As a Project Delivery Leader on our transportation team, you will provide a wide variety of lead and support roles on various transportation/highway engineering tasks. Job functions may include:

• Lead large and multifaceted transportation planning and design projects in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environment
• Review and certify schematics, engineering plans, models and documents to meet quality control goals and standards of care
• Develop and analyze alternative interchange, alignments, and concepts studies to meet purpose and need and recommend design solutions
• Mentor engineering and technician staff on transportation design tasks
• Strong understanding of highway design standards, current software and other highway design manuals, trends and guidelines
• Produce and oversee schematics and construction documents, specifications, and construction cost estimates
• Prepare for and facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations and approval of plans
• Direct project staff and sub-consultants on various projects and assignments
• Serve as liaison between clients and firm
• Coordinate and develop relationships with clients, consultants, government agencies, and project staff
• Support proposal and business development efforts across RK&K. Develop Level of Estimates and submit invoices for contract/work order execution

Required Skills and Experience

• A minimum of 15 years of transportation planning, schematic design, and/or PS&E development
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
• Expertise in OpenRoads Designer / Microstation / Geopak / InRoads and strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong understanding of AASHTO, State and local design criteria

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience with alternate project delivery
• Involvement with relevant Professional Societies
